(Opening 3 Minutes)
 The film is opened with a narration of one of
the main characters reading a book to a
dying man. The narration is diegetic and is
  paired with a non-diegetic orchestral
  soundtrack.
 As the shot changes to an overview of the
city, there is a non-diegetic ‘crime type’
soundtrack. This could suggest that later on
in the film there is a crime related activity or
  character, creating enigma for the
  audience.
 The first shot the audience is shown is a close-
up of a leaf with rain dripping onto it. This
suggests that the main location is surrounded
by a forest and is stereotypically set within dull
weather,, which in this case is rain.
 There is then a medium shot, showing both the
main character and the dying man. This
suggests some sort of isolation which sets an
    enigma code.
 As this shot is faded out through the use of
smooth transitions, there is then a series of
wide-shots of the city following a bus, which
the main character is on. This sets the scene.
 The beginning emphasises a very slow
pace, due to the fact that there is a
dying man. Sympathy is created for the
  audience.
 The pace begins to speed up when the
shot of the bus and the city are shown.
 Very serious facial expressions.
 Set it what seems to be a hospital or an
  isolated area.
 The lighting is slightly dull to begin with,
but as the scene changes it gets brighter
as it is just the break of day.
