HCC Southeast to host 5th annual
Veteran Job Fair and Career Expo
HOUSTON - (Sept. 30, 2014) – Southeast College will aid the effort to lower the veteran
unemployment rate by helping Houston-area veterans find job opportunities through its
fifth annual Veteran Job Fair and Career Expo.
The Career Expo will take place on Nov. 6, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 6815 Rustic
St., Houston, TX 77087. Over 50 employers and 10 veteran agencies will be available
to assist veterans at the event. Five different workshops will provide essential
information on employment for the anticipated 500 attendees.
Despite their experience and wide range of skills acquired through training, the
unemployment rate for veterans sits higher than the civilian one, especially for new
veterans returning from Iraq and Afghanistan. Many people, including First Lady
Michelle Obama, have begun to focus on the employment opportunities available to
veterans as troops are being withdrawn from abroad.
Houston Community College Chancellor Dr. Cesar Maldonado, Southeast College
President Dr. Irene Porcarello and other special dignitaries are expected to attend
Interested veteran jobseekers should register at tinyurl.com/veteranjobfair
2. Exhibitors and employers should contact James Corona at james.corona@hccs.edu
