To whom it may concern,
Jack joined Ovarian Cancer Action as a full-time Fundraising Intern for 2 months during the summer of 2016. His
main responsibilities were to assist the fundraising team with data inputting and supporter care, ultimately
contributing to Ovarian Cancer Action’s work in funding leading ovarian cancer research and awareness
campaigns.
Jack’s day to day responsibilities included:
i. Monitoring and recording charity donations on the charity’s database
ii. Daily communication with donors on a case by case basis, by email or on the phone.
iii. Sending out fundraising material in a timely manner for supporter’s events.
Jack was also involved in ongoing projects including assisting with event planning for Ovarian Cancer Action’s
Next Ten Gala Evening, by sending invitations, recording RSVPs and researching guests and their companies
using Companies House and other online platforms. He also researched into Halloween fundraising events,
providing ideas based on research of other charity events, found up to date contact information for student
unions, sourced gift in kind products from companies for events.
Jack also worked with other departments including the Press Office, Finance, Digital Communications and
Operations. One such project was researching statistical data analysis for the Annual Report, as well as creating
and distributing a Press Roundup for the whole organization. He daily used Excel and Word, as well as frequent
use of specialist systems including CommittedGiving, Cision, and Sage 50.
Jack was hard working, diligent and passionate about his role at Ovarian Cancer Action. In a relatively short time,
he quickly became a member of the team, working well with all staff and adding to the charity’s positive working
environment. Jack would welcome new projects and be very willing to take on additional work to help out other
departments and learn as much as possible. Jack is a very quick learner and was often working on a number of
projects at once, yet showed the ability to prioritize his work very well, ensuring that he always hit deadlines.
Jack has huge potential and we were delighted to have him working for Ovarian Cancer Action.
