1. The March of Dimes Prematurity Campaign
A longtime real estate professional, Jack H. Boyajian provides leadership to a New Jersey-based
enterprise. Outside of work, Jack H. Boyajian supports a number of charitable organizations, including
the March of Dimes, which he assists as a volunteer.
Despite medical advances on many fronts, premature births remain a significant issue in the United
States, resulting in many children needing additional medical care early in their lives. One in eight
American babies arrives prematurely. Across the globe, mothers annually give birth to 13 million
children prematurely. In an effort to reduce these numbers and spread awareness, the March of Dimes
conducts its Prematurity Campaign.
One campaign event is World Prematurity Day, which occurs on November 17. The March of Dimes
organization encourages individuals to participate by “liking” the event on Facebook and to post status
updates related to premature birth. Volunteers can also update their Twitter feeds and blogs with posts
related to prematurity.
The organization also encourages volunteers to collect donations through Jeans Day events in
workplaces. Workers donate to March of Dimes and show their support by wearing jeans and a Blue
Jeans for Babies t-shirt on the designated day. The nonprofit also appreciates donations from single
contributors, who may submit funds online.
