2. Travelodge Success
• One of the computers used for
booking in customers was
experiencing technical difficulties.
Furthermore, a Greyhound bus full of
customers was going to arrive in 15
minutes, and all of customers needed
to be checked in. The manager was at
the bank and I could not consult him
for help. I had took the initiative of
unplugging the current computer and
setting up one of the backup
computers. I had set up the backup
computer before the Greyhound bus
was able to arrive. My actions
resulted in customers have an
efficient, hassle-free book in. My
manager and fellow employees
recognized my actions and
commended me for my actions.
3. Giving a Helping Hand
• During the summer I had went to visit my
cousin who lives in India. While in India I
had noticed a great amount of poverty.
Many homeless people where not able to
provide themselves with basic living needs
such as clean water, food, and shelter. I was
deeply saddened by the homeless people
not being able to provide themselves with
basic living needs . I wanted to find out a
way in which I can help the needy. My
cousin had discovered that local village
leaders were building a homeless shelter in
the city. I had decided to take action and
volunteer in the construction of the
homeless shelter. My cousin and I had
helped in the basic building of the homeless
shelter such as laying bricks , and painting.
As a result the homeless shelter was
completed before the scheduled
completion date , and shelter was provided
to the homeless. Furthermore, I had
wanted to help the needy and I was able to
do so by volunteering in the construction of
a homeless shelter.
4. Soccer Success
• During the summer time I play soccer and
am apart of a soccer league. Every summer
a tournament is conducted and for the
past 3 years my team has been struggling
to qualify for the playoffs. This past
summer my soccer team and I had put in
countless hours of practice therefore we
can qualify for the playoffs. My team and I
also had a meeting every week in which we
discussed our strengths, our
weaknesses, and how we can improve on
our weaknesses. As a result of the
countless hours of practice and team
meetings my team and I had qualified for
the playoffs. Furthermore, my soccer team
and I had ended up winning the finals.
Also, the soccer club had recognized mine
and my teams actions and rewarded us
each with a trophy compared to one team
trophy. To continue, my team and I had
proved to other teams that we are capable
of competing with them and my team and I
should not be under estimated.
5. Giving a Presentation
• I had recently did a presentation
regarding TD Bank Group’s internal and
external communication practices. The
presentation required me to summarize
my 12 page report on the internal and
external communication practices of TD
Bank Group in to a five minute
presentation. The presentation also
required me to effectively demonstrate
my communication skills such as body
language. I had took the action of
effectively summarizing my business
report and practising my business
communications skills. As a result I
provided an excellent presentation on
TD Bank Group’s internal and external
communication practices.
Furthermore, I demonstrated excellent
communication skills throughout the
presentation. Also, through excellent
summarization and communication
skills my audience was effectively able
to receive and understand the messages
I wanted to convey.
6. Learning Something New
• Had attended a seminar regarding
communication within the workplace
and applied the knowledge learned into
the workplace. The seminar discussed
different communication methods, how
to effectively communicate verbally and
non-verbally, how to effectively
communicate with co-workers and etc.
At work a new employee was hired and
there was a communication barrier with
him due to him being from a high
context culture and me being from a
low context culture. I had taken the
action of using the information I learned
in the seminar and applying it to the
employee at my workplace. Applying
the knowledge I learned in the seminar
resulted in eliminating the
communication barrier I had with the
employee. Furthermore, I had put the
knowledge I learned into practice.
