6. Kaizen = Improvement
In last month’s issue of The Bridge, Dan
Swartwood, Director of Supply Chain Process
and Design wrote an article about Kaizen, the
Japanese term for improvement.
Satellite Logistics Group has encouraged
employees at the corporate office to suggest
ways the company can make improvements by
installing its own Kaizen board (left).
So far, 38 suggestions have been received,
10 of those have been completed which led to
13 process steps being eliminated and 314
work hours saved.
Letter of Credit

Helping Hands
S
atellite Logistics Group recognizes the value of giving back to the community, whether it be
locally or internationally. When an earthquake struck the country of Haiti on January 12th of
this year, everyone around the world saw the destruction and despair that it caused. Kevin
Brady, President of Satellite Logistics Group agreed to match donations that were made to specific
charities. SLG matched donations for over a month and donated a total of $2550! Donations went
to Save the Children, Doctors Without Borders, American Red Cross and AmeriCares. Thank you to
everyone who contributed and thank you to Mr. Brady for helping those in need!
Healthy, Wealthy & Wise
Got a minute? These moves can help relieve tension around your head, neck, shoulders
and hands:
The Scalp Soother. Place thumbs behind your ears and spread your fingers on
top of your head. Move your scalp back and forth slightly by making circles with
your fingertips for 15-20 seconds.
The Eye Easer. Close your eyes and place your ring fingers directly under your
eyebrows, near the bridge of your nose. Slowly increase pressure for five seconds,
then gently release. Repeat 2-3 times.
The Shoulder Saver. Place your left hand on the right side of your shoulder.
Press fingers firmly into the muscle while tucking your chin in toward your chest.
Hold this position for 10 seconds, and then repeat on the left side.
The Palm Pleaser. Lace your fingers together, leaving thumbs free. Slowly
knead your left thumb into the palm of your right hand for 20-30 seconds. Then
repeat on your left hand.
