Supporting our students in developing the
perseverance skills needed to manage and analyze
complex texts around (a) central concept(s) in order
to:
• synthesize information
• develop claims and provide evidence to effectively
support claims
• incorporate academic language

10. SSL Graduation Requirements
• All students must earn 75 hours by Graduation from
high school
• Special awards possible in Middle School:
– Superintendent’s SSL Award
• 75 hours between May 2, 2014 and May 1, 2015

1. Successful completion of academic classes infused with
SSL activities
– 10 SSL hours, Grade 6 Science
– 10 SSL hours, Grade 7 English
– 10 SSL hours, Grade 8 Social Studies
2. Participation in service activities sponsored by school
clubs and organizations
3. Involvement in community organizations and activities
that are pre-approved for SSL
