• Indianapolis’ CBD was topped only by Chicago in the Midwest office market for total net absorption in the
third quarter, with over 250,000 square feet. This is 130,000 square feet more than the next highest
Midwestern CBD. For the year, Indianapolis is in the upper half of Midwestern CBDs at over 200,000
square feet of absorption.
• Employment has steadily risen in Indianapolis throughout the year and the availability of premium blocks
of large contiguous space provided the perfect opportunity for several companies to either expand their
footprint or open new locations in the CBD. Law firms, in particular, have been the most active CBD
tenants this year accounting for 18.0 percent of leasing activity.
