5.1 My Job Part
I, Syed Istiaque Ahmed, joined at the Shajalal Islami Bank Limited Progati Sarani Branch as
a service Intern on 1st
February 2017. I feel so lucky that I got the opportunity to work with
such nice people. Our branch manager Fazle Kader Ahmed and Md. Baherul Alam Khan
AVP both is kind hearted and helpful person to me. Form the very beginning they are giving
me right way and proper direction form my assign duty which is given by the head office.
In this internship I have played the role of service intern. As a service intern I have
introduced with the banking system of SJIBL. First month, I have met and greet with
customer. I have talked with them and tried to find out there expectation towards the bank
and find out the solution how could be solved. Then I have asked them the question and
recorded my answer to my note book.
In the meantime form the general banking department; I have learned how to open a bank
account such as current account, savings account, FDR etc. I have learned about how to issue
cheque book and sometimes by using other id I have different types of posting such as cheque
book posting, pay order listing, account open listing, LC listing etc.
I can give solvency certificate and bank account statement to the customer. For that it has
procedure, I have prepared how to prepare bank guarantee and the process of sanctioning
bank guarantee.
Then I have learned about how to prepare Credit information Bureau (CIB) report and I have
learned about some CIB report of the borrower and bank guarantor of Progati Sarani Branch.
I have also learned about how to make credit or loan proposal. I am happy by giving that
service to the bank. And I hope my seniors are also happy with the performance of me
comparing to the any other intern of the branch.
5.2 Findings of the Analysis
• SJIBL, progati Sarani branch do not have sufficient number of skilled manpower in
the branch.
• There are one hundred and four branches of SJIBL. Initially the service coverage of
SJIBL was very narrow.

• SJIBL has preserved lengthy procedure in maintaining record for any types of data in
sending and receiving such as issuing debit card and cheque book. Sometimes it good
as because it became secure. But sometime it has negative effect that the customer
.Because customers become bored and it takes more time to maintain the process.
• The branch does not do any treasury function. It is rather done by head office.
• SJIBL has introduced SMS banking for its clients. The customer can check their
account balance. Send request for bank statement and other features are added in this
SMS banking service. But for selected customers.
• Branch record systematic records and transactions with the customers in the hard
discs with backup so that this can be acknowledged when necessary.
• The bank has accepted online banking. It provides all the modern services with the
latest technology.
• The communication network used for online banking by the bank often goes down.
Which cause many problems to the clients to get quick payments or balance transfer.
• There is no sufficient computer for the employees. This hinders the prompt service
outcome.
• The workplace is just a well-furnished workplace. This is not lively. If the bank could
add some green sight and marine aquatic then it will be a lively place all together.
• There is also some gap of team work between the employees.
