The document summarizes and compares the success of two Kickstarter campaigns - one for an anti-theft backpack and one for a dance performance. The backpack campaign was very successful, raising over $640,000 by offering practical and relevant rewards. The dance performance campaign is struggling to reach its $6,000 goal, likely because its rewards were less enticing and its pitch video was too long and impersonal. Overall, the backpack campaign succeeded by having an in-demand product and rewards, while the performance campaign has not resonated due to weaknesses in its rewards and marketing.
6. •This was a regular entrepreneurship project.
•Their goal was 20,000
•They raised 640,923 !!!
7. •Their rewards were straight forward, you pay
enough, you get the backpack, two backpacks, or
more (up to 50)
Other rewards included your initials in the
backpack, RFD card holder (to protect your cards)
and/or oova headphones, Seattle portfolio or a
water bottle made to fit in your backpack.
8. • These were excellent rewards because they were relevant, useful, and
practical.
• The same people that are going to be looking at this backpack
would be interested in these objects as well. RFID card holders for
those travelling abroad and want extra protection for their cards.
• The rewards were relevant and felt like a natural addition to the
backpack.
• The different rewards also included options that would appeal to a
large audience.
9. • Their video showed their product in a friendly manner, but
was able to show the concept of the backpack. It helped you
imagine yourself wearing the backpack in places you might
be travelling through.
• Nobody wants to be robbed, ever. When you are carrying
some of your most expensive property, you want to avoid all
possibilities. Bobby showed how it could help you in doing
that.
10. • This project was a success because it not only exceeded its goal, but
gave the product it advertised and went above and beyond the call of
duty.
• Since they overshot their goal by a lot, they were able to offer
handheld luggage scale, a small wire and lock for locking up your
zipper and a re-usable poncho.
• I even bought one.
• This was a great investment and a wonderful product my wife and I
still use.
11. The mayday heyday parfait
• “mayday heyday parfait is the latest work from The Commons Choir, a
diverse cast of 30 dancers, singers, actors, poets, & other artists.”
• They are raising money for their newest production “The Mayday heyday
parfait” which is a representation on humanity, its struggles and music.
Performing in early November.
12. • This is a entrepreneurship project, but some could argue that it’s
social entrepreneurship because its music and dance which can help
others through trials and give peace of mind.
• Their goal is 6000$ but have only raised 4,360$ and at 1250pm of
10/17/2017 have only 26 hrs. left on their goal. It is all or nothing, so
if they don’t meet the 6000 they don’t get any of the money.
13. • I believe they struggled because their audience who they were
pitching too was not as large as they were anticipating, and should
have placed a slightly lower goal to assure they achieved it.
• Their incentives were also tailored to a smaller audience that would
discourage others to donating to their program other than out of
good will.
14. The photos on are not the commons choir or
from kickstarter.
• These rewards include a letter from their producer and crew, a
personal letter from their producer, acknowledgment in their
program and possible ticket/s to the after show party.
• Without offering substantial rewards, I myself don’t feel the need to
contribute to a show I won’t be seeing.
• Added on to the fact that I could contribute and then still have to buy a ticket
to see the show (if I was wanting to see it) discourages me more.
15. • The Video that they show to advertise their program felt dragged.
• This is a problem for a few reasons that I will point out
• I wasn’t expecting (or wanted) to watch a video that was longer than 2
minutes.
• It felt very impersonal to me. It felt like it was a tailored to the larger audience
and didn’t try and include me into it.
• It was overly complicated. They tried to explain too much, that for me who
came across it, that it didn’t draw me in.
16. • This project is not a success because it didn’t achieve what it was aimping for.
Not just he money goal, but also in the attempt to draw my money from me.
• It seems they won’t meet their goal without large investiments or many (which
don’t seem forthcoming) and they didn’t draw me to their cause.
• I support the arts, I think what they are doing is great, but their project wasn’t
presented in a way that would cause me to donate; especially becuaes I
wouldn’t be able to go see the show and see where my money went.
