Today we celebrate National Sweater Day. It is great to
see so people in warm, cozy sweaters. National Sweater
Day is a fun way to learn about the importance of saving
energy, and this day inspires you to use less heat all
winter. Here are a few helpful hints to stay warm in the
winter, save money on your energy bill and reduce the
greenhouse emissions going into the atmosphere:
- turn down the heat by 1 degree each week until you get used to the
reduced temperature and find a temperature you are comfortable with;
- reduce the heat for the sake of your plants. Household plants thrive in
cooler temperatures.

- instead of turning up the heat in your house, put on a sweater, wear
slippers or wear a hat around the house;
- turn down the heat when you go out and at night while you are sleeping;
Thank you ICPS for participating in National Sweater Day.
We are doing our part to help the environment. Now, If all
Canadians lowered their thermostats by just 2 degrees
Celsius this winter, it would reduce greenhouse gas
emissions by about 4 megatons. This is equivalent to
shutting down a 600 megawatt coal-fired power station!
