Clinical Perspective - Protandim can prevent Right Ventricular (RV) dysfunction and pathological
remodeling in the setting of persistent pressure overload. “Induction of myocardial nuclear factor
E2-related factor 2 and heme-oxygenase 1 with a dietary supplement (Protandim) prevented
fibrosis and capillary loss and preserved RV function despite continuing pressure overload.”
Conclusions: “Protandim also prevented the death of heart cells and significantly lowered osteopontin (OPN-1) levels by more than 50%.” Protandim has the ability to “effectively activate the
transcription factor Nrf2, a signal to the cell’s DNA to increase expression of a network of antioxidants, anti-inflammatory, and anti-fibrotic genes.” Nrf2 preserves the expression of vascular
endothelial growth factor and prevents RV failure without modifying lung angioproliferation.

Protandim attenuates intimal hyperplasia in human saphenous veins cultured
ex vivo via a catalase-dependent pathway

Abstract: Human saphenous veins (HSV) are widely used for bypass grafts despite their relatively low
long-term patency. To evaluate the role of reactive oxygen species (ROS) signaling in intima hyperplasia
(IH), an early stage pathology of vein graft disease, and to explore the potential therapeutic effects of
up-regulating endogenous antioxidant enzymes, we studied segments of HSV cultured ex vivo in an
established ex vivo model of HSV IH. Protandim, known to activate Nrf2 and increase the expression of
endogenous antioxidant enzymes in several in vitro and in vivo models, was used in this study.
Results: Protandim inhibits the formation of IH and the increase in cellular proliferation in HSV
cultured ex vivo. Further, Protandim attenuates rise in superoxide (O2-.) levels in HSV, attenuates rise
in lipid peroxidation (4-HNE) levels in HSV, enhances increases the activities of HO-1, total SOD and
catalase in HSV, enhances the protein level andd immunoflourescent intensity of catalase in HSV,
blocks medial thickening as well as cellular proliferation in established ex-vivo model of the early
stages of vein-graft disease. These abilities of Protandim, as demonstrated in HSV harvested from
patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting, makes it an attractive candidate for future
consideration as a pharmacological treatment of vein-graft failure.

Nrf2 activators: a novel strategy to promote oligodendrocyte survival in multiple sclerosis?
Results:
1. BG-12, tBHQ, SFN and protandim are well-tolerated and strongly induce Nrf2-driven antioxidant
enzyme production in oligodendrocytes, with protandim showing the most potent induction.
2. Nrf2 activators are able to protect oligodendrocytes against ROS-induced cytotoxicity.
Conclusions: Our findings indicate that several Nrf2 activators are able to significantly increase
antioxidant enzyme production in oligodendrocytes. Interestingly, protandim, a dietary supplement
consisting of herbal ingredients, was the most potent inducer and therefore may be the most suited
as a therapeutic strategy. Importantly, Nrf2-mediated antioxidant enzyme expression in
oligodendrocytes resulted in enhanced oligodendrocyte survival during an oxidative attack.

The LifeVantage compensation plan enables Distributors to earn compensation early and often as they sell our products.

• Local, national and worldwide company-sponsored events.
LifeVantage and our Distributors conduct thousands of events to educate and motivate our Distributors each year. We

create a personalized learning experience for our Distributors, in fiscal 2013.

Distributors can earn commissions based on the sale of products by Distributors in his/her network of sponsored Distribu tors in all countries where the Company does business. The Company also sells promotional materials that do not gener ate commissions for Distributors.
For the period September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013, the Company paid approximately $91,978,180 in com missions and sales compensation globally. The following table shows the average commissions paid during the period
(September 1, 2012 through August 31, 2013) to Distributors at various ranks in the LifeVantage Compensation Plan,
including the average percentage of total active Distributors and the average earned commissions at each level.
The average commission paid to active Distributors each month was $285.48, or $3,425.75 on an annualized basis.
Note that these figures do not represent a Distributor’s profit, as they do not consider expenses incurred by a Distributor
