7. The Average Hourly Rate for Nursery
Nurses is?
• £7.00 per hour
• Most frequent hourly rate is £6.70 per hour.
• This is 50p per hour less than the National
Living Wage.
8. Average Hourly Rate for Managers
• £11.55 per hour is the average rate for
Managers.
• This is just 38% more than the National Living
Wage of £7.20 per hour
9. Comment
• We didn’t ask about location and that will impact hourly
rates, we would expect Nurseries in the South of
England, to have to pay more to recruit qualified staff.
• Employers who pay 20p per hour more than the NMW
for their Nursery Nurses pay 3% above the NMW.
• To maintain the differential, those employers will need to
increase the hourly rate to £7.42 per hour for those
Nursery Nurses who are over 25 years of age.
