Cârlibaba is a commune in Suceava County, Bucovina, România.
Cârlibaba village emblem consists of a shield with red background
oundation a belt loaded with silver. The top and bottom are one grouse,
singing, natural colors, standing on a green branch. Chef shield is
reduced, toothed, black, with three silver tears. The shield is adorned
with a mural crown with a silver tower.
Legend of place
First mentioned in 1629 in chronicles monks of
Putna village Carlibaba is where the dismounted
Bogdan Voda, who occupancy Moldova starting
from Maramures.
The village derives its name from Carlibaba creek, a tributary of the Golden Bistrita
(originated in nemtescul Kirschelbach, which means river that flows beside the
church). An old legend says that in these places lived around here long ago a witch
famous for its practices. She inhabit the valley of a river, which people called him
Baba s Garla which stemmed time in Carlibaba and present village was named this
water.
