Project Proposal
Objective: Create an app that allows TCG fans to trade Cards and gaming items easily and efficiently.
- Trade cards.
- Request Items.
- Offer Items.
- Offer Push Notifications for when offers are made/accepted, cards become available, and
etc.
Target audience: TCG and Collectible Gaming Fans.
Look & Feel: CardTrader is designed to be simple and efficient. I want it to have a clean look which is
inviting to the users and allows the cards and collectibles you view to stand out above all else, as that is
what the app is all about… without the cards and collectibles there would be no app at all.
Competitive Analysis:
Pojo.biz
Pojo.biz is a site designed as a forum for TCG, and anime fans to interact. There is a specific
forum for trading which includes a wide variety games and items, however it is very
cluttered and can be difficult to use. Also, this site does not have a mobile app or even a
mobile site, making it very difficult to use on a mobile phone. Pojo.com is much more
complicated than CardTrader, and much less effective.
- No mobile app. Have to use full site.
- Very disorganized.
- Bad interface.
Ebay
Ebay is easily one of the most popular places for people to go to exchange cards and many other things.
Ebay has a great mobile app which is simple and easy to use. The downfall here is that Ebay is a general
sale site, meaning it encompasses anything and everything. This makes it harder to find the things you a
looking for when it comes to niche markets like trading cards and collectibles. Also, Ebay is a site where
you have to bid or buy with real money, meaning there is no opportunity to trade items like you can on
CardTrader.
- Too general.
- Too many things available makes it complicated.
- Money is the only payment accepted. Cannot trade.
TCG Trader
TCG Trader is an app designed for people to trade Pokemon Cards, however it is poorly made and not
very functional. Also, it encompasses a very small community and is limited to only pokemon cards
instead of the wide variety of games included by CardTrader.
- Only Pokemon.
- Very small community.
- Difficult to use.
Justification: Card trader is unique because it is the only app out there that encompasses a wide array
of TCG and Collectible Games. It is quick, efficient, and easy to use. It allows you to buy, trade, and sell
without the interference of the excessive amounts of unwanted items which show up on sites like Ebay.
It is the only mobile app that allows you to trade cards. Also, if I card you want is not available, you have
the option to add it to your wish list and can opt-in to receiving push notifications when one is posted
for trade. Ultimately, CardTrader is an app created for a specific niche community which reaches around
the globe and has something for every TCG or Collectible Gaming fan.
