2. Paper Bags
⢠Since Mother Earth is facing so many threats, it is only right that we ensure to help
in preserving planet earth. Occasionally, even in our own little ways, we can still save
the earth.
⢠This is when Paper bags come into the picture. We are all aware of the many
dangerous results plastics may give to our nature. If paper bags cannot fully
eliminate, then, at least it should minimize plastic bag usage.
⢠Paper Bags are recognized to be environment friendly and to be less harmful to the
nature. Disposable Paper Bags can be easily disposed, thus they are safe to the
surroundings. These recyclable paper bags are renewable as well.
⢠In comparison to other materials they are less expensive.
3. Objectives
The pupil is able to:
⢠Develop the skills of creativity and decoration.
⢠Make the best out of waste.
⢠Develop the skill of manual work.
⢠Utilize old newspapers.
⢠Develop aesthetic sense and creativity.
⢠Identify the texture of paper.
5. Instructions
⢠Cut a piece of paper 9 1/2 inches by 15 inches.
⢠Position the paper on a flat work surface. If the paper has a patterned side,
place the pattern down. Orient the paper with the long edges at the top and
bottom. Fold the bottom edge up 2 inches, sharply crease the fold and
unfold it.
6. ⢠Fold the sides of the bag into place. Be sure to maintain the landscape orientation as you work.Locate
the center points of the top and bottom edges. To do this, either measure with a ruler or simply lift the
paper, maintain the orientation, bring the short sides together as though you were folding the whole thing in
half, and pinch the top and bottom of the would-be fold to mark where the center of each long side is.
Lightly mark these spots with a pencil.
⢠Mark the paper again a half inch (13 mm) to both the left and right of each center point. When youâre done,
you should have six marks total: three centered within one long edge of your paper and three centered
within the other.
⢠Bring the right edge of the paper to the left-most pencil lines and fold. Once the fold is properly creased,
unfold. Repeat the inverse on the opposite side.
⢠Flip the paper over, re-fold the left and right sides downward toward the center, and glue them where they
overlap. Be sure to fold along the same lines as before (but note that the folds will be inverted). Let the glue
dry completely before moving on to the next step.
7. ⢠Flip the bag over so that it sits glued-side-down. Make sure to orient it so that one of the open ends points
toward you.
⢠Fold the side-creases inward to create a slight accordion effect. With your ruler, measure inwards about 1.5
inches (3.8 cm) from the left-hand side of the bag. Lightly mark this with your pencil.
⢠Push the left side-crease of the bag inwards toward the interior of the bag. Do this until the left-hand mark you
made in the previous step sits on the outer edge of where the paper is bending.
⢠Press-fold the paper downwards so that the pencil mark lines up with the new folded edge. Try to keep the top and
bottom edges symmetrical as you press the paper down.
⢠Repeat on the right-hand side.
⢠When youâre done, the body of the bag should fold inwards on either side just
like a grocery-shopping bag.
8. ⢠Fold and glue the bottom of the bag into place. To determine which end is the bottom, look for the crease
lines from Step 3 that mark the bottom of the bag. Keep the bag flattened for now.Fold the bag 4 inches (10 cm)
up from the bottom and crease it along this line.
⢠Keeping the rest of the bag flattened, prop open up the bottom of the bag. The inward-flaring creases should pop
open, forming a square edge. Inside, you should see a triangle of folded paper on either side.
⢠Fold the left and right sides of the open, square-shaped bottom completely down. Use the outermost edge of
each interior triangle as a guide. When youâre done, the bottom area should have 8 sides like an elongated octagon
instead of 4 sides like it had before.
⢠Fold the bottom strip of the âoctagonâ upwards towards the center of the bottom of the bag.
⢠Fold the top strip of the âoctagonâ downwards towards the center of the bottom of the bag. The bottom should
now be neatly folded shut; glue the edges where they overlap and let dry.
9. ⢠Pop the bag open. Make sure the bottom is completely closed off and that there are no gaps in
the glued edges.
⢠Now add the handles.
10.
11. File Folders
⢠File folders are a great way to organize. You can use them for organizing coupons,
craft ideas, scrapbooking paper, bills, your child's homework and many other types
of paperwork.
⢠Usually, file folders are a bland but useful part of our everyday lives. They do not
have to be boring, though. By decorating your file folders, you can add some fun to
your organization system. Even the most ordinary of household items can be made
decorative. It just takes a little creativity and some planning.
⢠In comparison to other materials they are less expensive as well.
12. Objectives
The pupil is able to:
⢠Make the best out of waste.
⢠Develop the skills of creativity and decoration.
⢠Develop aesthetic sense and creativity.
⢠Develop the skill of manual work.
⢠Utilize old patrikas.
14. Instructions
⢠Take a handmade sheet and fold it in little less than half. Keep shorter side up.
⢠Locate the center of the folded sides and punch holes in them.
⢠Open the sheet and on the right half stick a section of
handmade sheet from three sides keeping only top side
open for keeping pages.
15. ⢠Decorate the section for keeping pages and the extra section from the lower side.
⢠Add ribbons from the punched holes.
16. ⢠You may either add Velcro tape as shown below, or just fold the extra section over left
side of the folder inn order to close it.
⢠It is now ready to keep files.
