Collection of Mr Lai Ming and Ms Wong Wing-yin
Gao Jianfu practiced by drawing and sketching the paintings of various
painters to study their techniques. These sketches include images of pine 高劍父在此寫生稿上以同音細字標註了昆蟲、花卉、葉筋的用色畫法，如
trees, the moon, lotuses and rocks from the works of Mei Qing 蟲肚、頭、辛（身）、花卉細部等以「王」（黃）、「粉六（綠）王（黃）」

Gao Jianfu made detailed notes of the colouring of the insects, flowers
and veins of the leaves (written with small characters with similar
pronunciations to the descriptions of colours on the picture) to record the
colours on the belly of the insects, its head and body, as well as different
parts of the flowers as a reference for later. The same method was used
by Ren Bonian (1840–1895) and Deng Fen (1894-1964). It is one of the
common methods Chinese painters employed in their study.
