Iraq – Nineveh Governorate
Mosul City
General Information about Mosul City: Mosul city is the center of Nineveh Governorate and, it is the
second largest Iraqi city in terms of population and geographical area after the capital Baghdad, the
population of Nineveh Governorate is 3,600,000 person and the population of Mosul City is about
1,800,000 person. Distance between Baghdad and Mosul is 402 kilometers and, it is located north of Iraq.
The area of the city is 32,308 km2
. The City of Mosul is divided right in the middle by the Tigris River that is
the reason why they call the northern part as left coast and the southern part as right coast. The city is
famous for trade for hundreds of years with nearby countries Syria, Turkey, this is why it called (Mosul =
Connector) as connects some countries with Iraq and Levant. the population speaks Al-Meslawia dialect
(Al-Mosulia), which is similar to North Syrian dialects, Al-Meslawia dialect got the greater role in
maintaining the identity of the city, the people of Mosul city are diverse Historically, most of them Arab
Sunnis, Shabak nationality, Christian religion Yezidi Sect, Kurdish and, Turkmen nationalities, all have
lived hundreds of years in peace with each other.
Reasons of Issuing this Report: This report is issued which cares about internal conditions of Mosul city
because there are no means of communication with the city , and media workers fled from the city as ISIS
dominated on all means of communications and they threatened all media workers, for these reasons we
decided that it is our duty as an NGO to contribute to the delivery of the facts to public opinion , defend the
rights of civilians in Mosul and show how dangerous is the ISIS on the sons of Mosul city, note that this
report does not cover all the events that took place and we relied on contact mechanism with citizens of
different professional specialties and take information from them.

1-Human Rights and Freedoms:
Human Rights: When we contacted the Department of forensics, it turned out that there is preliminary
statistic of death toll in the city; about 201 citizens were killed between 10/6/2015 up to 31/7/2015. ISIS
fabricated ways to kill them after accusing them of many charges (such as Ex-candidates in the previous
elections / media workers / members of non-governmental organizations / members of the Iraqi army and
police / people accused of spying for the Iraqi government and the Kurdistan regional government /
oppositionist to ISIS) and large number have been killed after issuing death sentences against them
contrary to the Iraqi criminal laws.
Recruiting Children: ISIS organization continues to claim from minors under age of 18 to join them and
seduce them by money, and weapons, ISIS justify their request as a mean to defend the Islamic religion
and the Sunni sect, volunteers are 200 children as young as 15 years old, they are receiving awareness
lessons on methods and objectives of the organization in order to attract largest number possible of
volunteers, especially among children, then giving them physical and military training during the period of
90 days at a high degree of firmness, children are trained on light and medium weapons, volunteers
should fill a form and give full information including skills, there are some questions to measure intellectual
tendencies of volunteers and a volunteer should be from Sunni Arabs exclusively.
- On 07/07/2015 ISIS trained 95 Yazidi and Shiite captured child, they had been abducted during the
invasion of Sinjar and Tal Afar districts after the events of 8/3/2014 and they were previously held in the
camps of Raqqa Governorate near the Syrian border, the children were transferred to Mosul, and they are
now present inside the building of Dar Al-Zohor for orphans and child care, which is located in the in Al-
Moharibin Q. on the left side of Mosul city.
- Lately the phenomenon of child labor spread because of the economic need to aid their parents, the
children are roaming near traffic intersections selling fruits, vegetables, fuel and food in order to get the
daily sustenance as the economic situation of Mosul City is running down after the interruption of trade
routes to the city.
Note: We stress once again that the delay in liberation operation of Mosul city works to increase the
proportion of unemployed persons because of the deteriorating economic situation which forces a large
number of children and youngsters to join ISIS in order to support their families as labor market is poor and
ISIS pays 500 US$ monthly for young men and 300 US$ for minors under 18 years.

Women Rights: Women of Mosul continue to suffer from marginalization and persecution by members of
ISIS and the imposition of laws and sanctions against them. There are inhumane actions restricts personal
freedom, making women in constant fear to go to the streets, markets and shopping because of the
harassment that occurs to them by female police officers, including the so-called (Divan of Al-Hesba for
Women) which stresses on women to maintain Afghani dressing design. Our sources reported some of the
cases that have occurred in the city, including the case of beating a pregnant woman was about to give
birth as she couldn’t wear the Afghani veil imposed on them because of her situation, when she reached
hospital gates women police stopped her and lashed her 17 lashes without taking into account her critical
situation, they arrested her husband and imposed 70 lashes on him then they took him to an unknown
destination, consequently the woman gave birth near hospital doors and then died of severe bleeding and
delay to reach the halls of birth because she needed a caesarean section. Another case was observed in
Al-Serjkhane market on the right coast, three women from Women Police, Russians nationality and fourth
was Yemeni nationality beat 11 women in one of the shops selling women's clothing, despite wearing
Afghani veil imposed on them, among the women 17 years old girl died because of shortness of breath
(asthma) and severe and brutal beating, our sources reported that the height of policewomen were
ranging (180 cm to 190 cm) and they did not leave the place of the accident and did not care about the
death of the girl.
-On 18/06/2015 ISIS issued instructions to prevent women from going out during the month of Ramadan
except for emergency situations such as going to the hospital with accompaniment man who should be a
first degree relative after taking approval from ISIS to get out.
- 7 cases recorded in the past two months of girls committing suicide, their age is between 19-30 years old
because of repression and psychological situation and inability to withstand the pressure exerted by ISIS
toward females.
- Also our sources mentioned that the majority of main women prisons (Altesfirat prison / near Mosul
University) were bombed by coalition air forces, which made ISIS to seize residential building belongs to
people of Mosul city who fled out of the city and became secret offices, but couldn’t obtain information
about the location of those secret prisons and how many prisoners are there.
The situation of youth: ISIS imposed set of laws and regulations on youngsters of Mosul city that prevent
them from exercising certain rights, including no haircuts or shaving beard and shave mustache, because
of these instruction 50% of young people are not going out of their homes except in necessary cases, in
order to avoid being stopped by members of ISIS. There are 11 cases of beatings of young people with a
stick who were dressing shirts and colored trousers or tight jeans and every person who contravenes these
regulations are whipped 20 lashes and pay a fine of 50 US$ and will not be released unless he changes
his clothes and his beard should be a hand fist long, most of the youngsters city adhere to the instructions
fearing of punishment.

Rights of minorities: After a year of ISIS occupation of Mosul City minorities are still suffering from great
persecution, violation of their rights and, ISIS committed a lot of crimes against minorities who were living
inside Mosul City, ISIS has confiscated Christians homes and steal their transferable and non- transferable
assets and, destroyed official documents found inside the house or shops which belongs to the Christians.
- Our sources confirmed that Yezidi Women sale process continues in Mosul in the Al-Ghabat area – Al-
Sadir tourist complex, which is located near the Tigris River in the left coast of Mosul city, one member of
the organization sold 5 Yezidi girls in the complex their age between 10-15 years old and were raped in
that area.
- On 13/07/2015 the organization converted old Chaldean Church in Al-Maidan area in the center of Mosul
city to a mosque named Abu Abdul Rahman Al-bilaoi, our source added that the Church is one of the
ancient Chaldean churches and overlooking the Tigris River, ISIS removed the Cross and painted the
tower with black color.
- On 15/7 the organization gave orders to the Central Library staff at the University of Mosul to collect
Masters and PhDs belonging to Christians, Yazidi and Shabak students which are about (1092) study and
research in order to burn it because they see it as stemming from a thought opposing to the Islamic law
(Shari’a) as they said, the building of College of Administration and Economics was chosen to burn those
studies.
- We stress again that there are (95) child from Yezidi religion and Shiia faith prisoned with ISIS , the
children are trained in ISIS camps and they deal with them in a harsh and tough way in order to insert the
ideas of organization and convince them to change their religion and their beliefs and follow ISIS
instructions.
Freedom of expression: ISIS continues to impose laws that restricts freedom of expression in Mosul and
that made people cannot speak of their public or daily affairs and exposes them to lashes or murder, ISIS
increased largely the surveillance of internet and raided three houses in left coast because they got
internet system linked directly to satellites, and punish those who have this device with murder because
they did not take approval from ISIS to own this device. ISIS continues to arrest young men in the streets
of Mosul abruptly and inspect their mobiles and computers if they were carrying it and review all files for
fear of having information pertaining to their positions or photos of ISIS, and there is a great fear from the
people of Mosul city to speak through social networking sites on the internal situation of the city because
they think that ISIS is spying on all conversations that go out or enter the city of Mosul.
Note: the people of Mosul city require programs that protect their computers from spyware by ISIS
members in order to facilitate the transfer of information about the conditions of the city and the events
taking place inside city.

Freedom of Religion and Belief:
- ISIS organization vowed to hold severe penalty for each one goes to Tarawih prayers in Ramadan or
commits deliberate Iftar for instance, on 21/06/2015 ISIS arrested six imams and preachers of mosques of
different locations in the city, preachers of (Zahra Mosque / Al-Mufti Mosque / Al-Makhiol Mosque / Ali Ibn
Talib Mosque / Al-Montasir Bi Allah Mosque / Al-Sidiq Mosque) were arrested and ISIS took them to an
unknown destination, witnesses said that the arrest conducted by 5 vehicles surrounded the mosques
and took imams to unknown destinations after being accused of establishing Tarawih prayers that
prevented by ISIS to perform it in mosques in the city under the pretext that Tarawih prayers is (heresy and
misguidance ) and no benefit comes from it.
- Divan of Al-Hesba of ISIS launched sanctions during the month of Ramadan, by putting the invalidator of
fasting in a cage in the city center for 15 days and is giving the invalidator one piece of bread, and few
dates during Iftar and the same meal in sahour, source said that these cages are located in the city of
Mosul in Bab Al-Top and it was previously used to punish smokers.
- ISIS closed barber shops in Ramadan and prevented shortening hair or modern haircuts , ISIS also
prevent all entertainment and games, including games like Al-Mehbas and dominoes in the month of
Ramadan, those games are famous in Iraqi governorates. Women were prevented from going out in the
days of Ramadan only permitted to go out by emergency instructions with the presence of a first degree
relative (husband / son / brother / uncle) and be a man so-called (Mahram) also prevented women from
using mobile phones.
2-Taxes: ISIS continues to raise big funds in many ways, mostly collected through fines collected from
citizens who violate the instructions and laws example, if a citizen sells imported meat the fine is 60 US$,
and also ISIS deduct money from all shops owners and sellers on the sidewalks, the fee is 50,000
thousand Iraqi dinars for shops and 2,500 Iraqi dinars for sellers on the sidewalks. Drivers of motorcycles
should bring the four documents and pay 5,000 ID and attend Directorate of Traffic to obtain new plate
numbers which is says (State (Wilaya) of Nineveh Traffic). Medical staff houses seized by ISIS on
06/09/2015 and are rented for the displaced families coming from Salah Al-Din, Anbar, and Sharqat, ISIS
obtains the money and put it in the treasury.

3. Security Situation:
Note: (Al-Khasfa Pit): Located in Hatra area, which is located 80 km south of Mosul city. The hole (Al-
Khasfa Pit), separates the main road between Baghdad, and Mosul governorates, this pit occurred as a
result of geographical and climatic changes in the area because of the nature of the land, the depth of Al-
Khasfa pit is (100 meters), after the events of 10/6/2014 ISIS used the pit as cemetery to throw the bodies
of murdered persons, our sources confirmed that the pit contains approximately about 1,600 bodies some
of them belongs to the prisoners of Badush prison. ISIS executed during the past six months, a large group
of journalists and election candidates and the organization doesn’t want the bodies to be found.
Killing Operations: people from Mosul city mentioned the non-stable security situation in the city with ISIS
dominance and committing brutal crimes against civilians and inventing new ways of killing and executing,
some of it conducted in front of people to spread fear and horror. ISIS launched arrest and execution
campaigns against many groups as follows:
-On 1/6/2015 ISIS arrested 3 young men in Sharqat District south of Mosul city, and they were accused to
transfer security information to the Central Government, after the investigation they were shot dead.
-On 2/6/2015 our source said that ISIS executed 3 candidates from different lists in Al Gayara District
west of Mosul city and they are (Salem Al-Badrani, Khalil Al-Nu’aimi, and Faroq Al-Shamari), their
names were in Al-Arabia and Al-Motahidon lists. After abducting them from their homes west of Mosul
city, they were detained in Al-Ezza camp after investigations, legal Court imposed death penalty and
shot dead, their relatives were informed to go to the forensics department in the city of Mosul to
receive the bodies.
- On 20.06.2015 the organization throw 3 young men over the National Insurance Company building in
Al-Jmhoria Street – in the right coast of Mosul city in an incident which is not the first of its kind, the
young men were accused of (homosexuality). ISIS is throwing young men in front of people.
- On 22/6/2015 ISIS arrested 130 members of local police, who have declared their repentance
formerly to ISIS during the invasion of Mosul city, most of them are Arab nationality from (Jabor - Tai)
tribes and all were shot in heads in southern Mosul / on the road to Baghdad.
- On 23/06/2105 ISIS conducted executions campaign against 23 citizens of the city under the pretext
of spying and collaborating with the Iraqi government, the organization executed a group of citizens

after accusing them of spying for the central government and executed them in a very horrible way in
Al-Dndan swimming pool in the right coast, the execution was filmed and produced in a professional
way and show it to the world in order to spread terror. ISIS put 55 member of police department in
cages and disembarked them in the pool alive this crime was also filmed. They put a group in car
bombs and blow up the car by a RBG7 missile. ISIS is in continuous search for police and army
embers considering them as apostates, the reason of such operation is the fear of the date of city
liberation and those members might have military activities against ISIS when liberation forces enters
to the city of Mosul, there are intelligence operations in Mosul by people who were previously working
undercover informants with the army.
-On 05/07/2015 two young men were thrown from one of the buildings in the Prophet Younis Old Market, a
popular market in the left coast, ISIS argument was that these young men have had connections with the
central government in Baghdad and they transfer intelligence information about ISIS locations in Mosul.
- On 22/07/2015 the organization cut hands of two young men in the city center with the presence of a
large crowd of people under the pretext of theft.
-On 23/07/2015 the organization arrested 17 members of Nineveh Office / Supreme Commission for
Elections and executed three of them and the rest their fate is unknown till the moment of issuing this
report.
- On 24/07/2015 ISIS executed four drivers by firing squad in Bab Al-Top downtown area on charges of
smuggling families to Baghdad Governorates without taking permission to leave from the organization and
not obeying regulations imposed on travel offices.
- On 30/07/2015 ISIS executed three young men in Sharqat District south of the city under the pretext of
dealing with the government forces and transfer information about ISIS locations. The young men are from
(Jabor) tribe.

- On 17/7/2015 ISIS killed Mr. Ghanem Hamodat, a university professor who contravenes instructions with
his elder son in connection with participation in Tarawih prayers in the mosque Al-Sidiq Q., located in the
left side of the city, the penalty was death by firing squad and then ISIS members went to the residence of
Mr. Ghanem and slaughtered his wife (Esra Subhi Al- Hamodat) and three daughters and steal jewelry and
money founded in the house.
4-Media and Journalism Situation:
Mosul city got many media means, most famous ones are:
Al-Mosulya Satellite Channel: Established 2006-2007 specialized in broadcasting Nineveh Governorate
news exclusively. The Channel established by USA Army budget at that time.
Sama Mosul Satellite Channel: Established 2011-2012 specialized in broadcasting Nineveh Governorate
news exclusively. The Channel established by Regional Development Fund.
Radios:
Nineveh Radio: Governmental radio related to Iraqi Media Network.
Mosul Voice Radio: Related to PUK.
Mosul Radio: Related to KDP
Ashor Radio: Related to Christian Assyrian Party
Dar Al-Salam Radio: Related to Islamic Party
Al-Salam Radio: Related to Chaldean Syriac Council
Al-Rashid Radio: Related to National Movement
Al-Quran Al-Karim Radio: Related to Sunni Endowment
70 Newspapers: They were independent newspapers financed through advertisements issued by Nineveh
Governorate.
ISIS continues to target journalists and eliminate them in Mosul city as they couldn’t flee because of the
closure of border ports in the south and north.
-On 3/6/2015 ISIS issued a letter addressed to media workers and journalists to present repentance within
30 days from the date of letter issuance, with repentance declared there were arrest and assassination
campaigns targeted media workers and journalists, (13) media workers and journalists were arrested and
some of them were transferred to secret prisons in Raqaa governorate in Syria. According to our sources

few media workers joined ISIS and they did provide names and information about all media workers and
journalists present inside or outside the city. Media workers are moving among their houses and relatives
houses fearing sudden arrest campaigns by ISIS and some headed toward Syrian Turkish border.
-On 1/6/2015 ISIS executed journalist (Firas Al-Baher) as he didn’t agree on organization repentance
declaration and refused to cooperate with them to give names of work friends and addresses, (Al-Baher)
was working as sound engineer in Nineveh Al-Ghad Channel, and the dead body was delivered to
Forensics Department in Mosul city.
-On 5/6/2015 ISIS executed and shot dead (Abdul Majid Farid) who was working as driver at Iraqi
Seattleite Channel.
-On 10/6/2015 ISIS executed the journalist and civil activist (Tha’er Al-Ali), ISIS accused him to transfer
security information of the city and publish it on media social site Facebook. He was Editor Manager for
Ra’i Al-Nas newspaper and founding member for our organization IID. The martyr (Tha’er Al-Ali)
volunteered to transfer city news before he gets executed and he had no party or political affiliations.
-On 6/7/2015 ISIS executed journalist (Suha Ahmad Radhi), after several days of abduction from her
resident east of the governorate. She was working as news editor and correspondent for Nineveh
newspaper. The dead body was delivered to her family by Forensics Department after executing her by fire
shots on her head and chest. (Note: We couldn’t get a picture of martyr Suha Radhi).
-On 16/7/2015 ISIS executed journalist photographer (Jala’ Al-Abadi), he was working with Al-Ain
News Agency, ISIS executed him by seven fire shots and the dead body was delivered to her family by
Forensics Department.

On 18/6/2015 ISIS started appointments as permanent staff for its Education Divan as teachers with a
salary of 400,000 ID. Males will submit their requests at Al-Sdiq Rashan Mosque in Al-Muthana Q. in the
left side, and females in Teachers Preparing Institute in Al-Malya Q. in the left side.

Food Supply:
Mosul city population are still suffering from high prices of food as many border ports are closed with other
governorates and neighbor countries which led prices go high as follow:
(50 Kg Rice = 120,000ID) (Sun Flower Oil (Cooking Oil 1 Ltr = 5000ID) (Sugar 1 Kg = 3000ID), this obliges
people to buy food from black market with prices which aren’t suitable with their economical situation and
with the start of Ramadan month on 18/6/2015 many factories were closed as there are no basic raw
materials needed by factories to produce local productions which led to lack of food supply in the market,
also Kurdish Peshmerga Forces controlled Tal Al-Abiath on 16/6/2015 which is an area related
geographically to Raqaa Governorate and it was considered as main and only port to bring food for Mosul
city.
6- Economical and Social Situation:
Employees’ Salaries
On 1/7/2015 Ministry of Municipalities and
Public Work/ Accounting and Budget
Department decided to stop salaries payment
to all employees working in Nineveh
Governorate that ISIS took control of it and this
decision is on temporary bases.

7- Movements
Roads used by citizens to exit from the city are blocked since 5/11/2014 and no one from Mosul city is
allowed to exit the city unless they bring a guarantor resides in Mosul city, the guarantor will guarantees
the person or the family willing to exit the city in front of the court established in the right coast that is called
(Legal Court). The guarantor will vows in front the court that the person or the family will return in 10 days
from their exit date, and in case if they didn’t come back ISIS will arrest the guarantor and confiscate the
house of fleeing family and also will confiscate all transferable and not transferable assets of that family.
There are group of people who have concrete cooperation with ISIS as they agreed with the organization
to smuggle people to the Turkish border without passports in return of 2000 US$ for each person, and also
for anyone wants to return back to Mosul city for 600 US$ for each person.
-On 22/7/2015 ISIS issued controls for travelling to allow people to travel to other governorates:
1-Travel will be allowed for necessities as follow:
a- Patient got sealed medical committee document from
Health Divan proves that the patient can’t be treated inside
the city.
b- Retirement paperwork that can’t be finished except in
Baghdad.
c- Money payment process for farmers, with the approval
of Agriculture Divan.
2- Exit will be conducted with guarantor system and put a
property or car in mortgage.
3- Identify travel duration otherwise the property or car will
be confiscated.
4- The guarantor will vows to show the property or the car
to travel security office and the traveler will have pre
knowledge about it.
5- Travel Office is obliged to bring needed documents
regarding the guarantee which includes property and
car documents.
6- Escorts should be one (for patients) and friends of the
family are not allowed to travel.
7- All women under age 55 years old are not allowed to
travel without (Mahram)
8- Women above age 55 years old are allowed to travel to
finish retirement paper work or necessary situations.

8- Services:
Health Situation: Mosul city got biggest 9 hospitals in all specialties (children/ tumor/ burns/ general/
blood banks) but after the arrival of ISIS to Mosul city there is a severe lack of medicines because of non-
arrival of monthly portions from Iraqi Ministry of Health, there is a big deterioration of health situation in
Mosul city during months of (June and July).
Because of continuous electricity outage and stoppages of premature and incubators devices that results
in fatality of 3-4 child daily and city hospitals are suffering from big lack of medicines , medical
equipment’s, and medical staff, and abusing hospitals by ISIS members.
-On 5/6/2015 ISIS issued instructions that say surgical operations halls will be available one day a week
for people and other days will be for ISIS members, the organization looted many governmental and
private medicines stores in Mosul and transferred it to Raqaa city on the Syrian border. Patients of
Leukemia are suffering from severe lack of special chemical medicine for their treatment which is now
available in the black market and sometimes the medicine is expired. Most of Health and Medical
complexes are closed as ISIS put a condition that it should be managed by medical practitioner and
specialist doctor.
-Pregnant women can’t go to maternity hospitals because there is no medical staff, or needed treatments,
and fearing germs and microbes widespread all over the hospital, two abortion cases are recorded each
week.
-On 10/7/2015 206 cases recorded of typhoid/ Malta fever patients.
-On 21/7/2015 88 cases recorded of Hepatitis.
-Our source confirmed severe lack of Albumin which helps to increase proteins in the body and also it can
be used to treat chronicle liver diseases, cirrhosis, liver cancer and kidney failure, there are also lack of
dialysis solutions, huge lack of cancer medicines in governmental hospitals and black market also.
Electricity: Main source of power in the northern area is Mosul dam which is considered biggest dam in
Iraq and fourth biggest dam in the middle east, the length of the dam is 3.2 Km and height is 131m ,
located 50 Km north of Mosul city. After liberating the dam from ISIS by Peshmerga forces on 23/8/2014
there was some damages affected the dam because of the battle which led to power outage frequently,
and since 5/10/2015 till the moment of preparing this report on 31/7/2015 there is national electricity
outage which caused the stoppage of water projects, industrial projects, labor market, local industry, and
medical equipment like special equipment for surgical operations and emergency equipment for children.
Lack of electricity obliges people to use private generators and the price is 25,000 ID for one AMP.

Water Supply: Population of Mosul is still suffering from lack of potable water as there is no water
sterilization, no chloroform substance from stores of Directorate of Water in Nineveh, and lots of impurities
in the water but the citizens are obliged to drink it as it’s the only source available and they can’t boil and
sterilize it as gas is very expensive, as a result Al-Salam Hospital in the left coast received 97 case of
kidney infection and Al-Jmhori Hospital in the right coast received 164 case of kidney infection, as total the
number is 261, and 102 case of it is for children under 13 years old.
Oil Products: As roads are blocked and it is very difficult to reach the city, and poor extract of the product,
two fatality cases occurred one on 15/7 a young man (Mohamad Karim) owner of Al-Karim bakery, located
near Al-Khansa Hospital in Al-Sukar Q, burned to death after the generator of the bakery burned. On 19/7
a young man (Ihab Abdul Ismail Al-Hadidi) burned to death as the generator he was working on burned.
Both incidents occurred because of the poor quality of oil products, our source also informed about fire
incidents in five houses inside the city causing the death of two women and one man because of the poor
quality of oil products.
Fuel (Gasoline): Fuel product still enters the city through oil products carriers with the approval of ISIS.
On 13/6/2015 some of the fuel product entered the city. The prices ranges depending on the type like
Konica is 900 ID equals to 0.70 US$ for each liter, it is Syrian origin and called (Red Gasoline), second
type is Halabi gasoline the price is 600 ID for each liter, the third type is Turkestan gasoline the price is 750
ID for each liter which equals to 0.60 US$ and it considered poorest type of gasoline in the market causing
car engines breakouts and resulted in death of a doctor and pharmacist as their car fuel tank exploded, our
source also mentioned that burns rate is 5 cases daily because of the poor quality of the products.
Mobile Phones: Mobile network interruption (Korek / Asia / Zain) continues from 20/12/2014, but there are
areas Korek network is available near Mosul city like near Tel Esqef Dsitrict, near Telkef District, and
Shalalat area which is located 10 Km north east of Mosul city, that is way Korek chip price reached 50,000
ID which equals 40 US$, the source mentioned that holding a mobile phone in some residential quarters is
forbidden like (Al-Qudus Q., Al-karam Q., Al-Intisar Q., Al-Khadhra’ apartments, and parts of Al-Qadisia Al
Awla Q. and Al-Qadisia Al Thania Q.) which are located near Kirkuk road. The penalty for the violator is
breaking a hand and confiscating the mobile phone, if the violator repeats the issue and used the mobile
phone again the penalty will be death.
Internet: On 3/6/2015 the internet service (Rebar) was stopped, people are using another company
service (Fanoos Telecom) to obtain internet service by connecting Fanoos device at home to satellite dish
and direct it to satellite. This system invented by technicians in Mosul city who work in the field o
communications, the price of this system is 150 US$ with monthly fee of 45,000 ID equals to 35 US$, there
are internet cafes provides internet with a fee of 5000 ID for each hour which equals to 4 US$. On
9/6/2015 ISIS informed all owners of internet cafes to attend Information Center of ISIS and bring all four
documents to monitor cafes from time to time to prevent information leak.

Introduce of Iraqi Institute for Development (IID)
Who are we: Non-governmental, non-profitable, and independent institute, established on 2003 by group
of young people from different cultural, and religious backgrounds. Main center is in Mosul city, works in
preparing studies, and presenting training advisories on human rights, peacemaking, and work to spread
the principles of freedom of opinion without discrimination on bases of religion, sex, or sect.
What we want: We aim to a society respects human rights, developed democratic debates prevails
through cultural and political change in Iraq and shift it to a more participatory system of all society
categories working on non-violent bases to demand their rights, and working to build relationships with
individuals and groups who support such principles.
Our Goals:
1- Substantiating human rights on citizen, and government level.
2- Spreading the culture of peace and forgiveness among Iraq components
3- Raise the level of democracy and acceptance of other opinion.
4- Work to communicate with other NGOs for information sharing and raise capabilities to achieve own
goals.
