miles. My perch atop the sand dunes is nearly perfect for drinking it all in. The tranquility is almost palpable, like a hug. This impression is heightened
by the warm desert air that embraces my skin. There is no wind to disturb the surface of the shimmering turquoise lake, busying itself with reflecting
brilliant desert sunlight. The lake's edges nestle against buff–colored sandy shores. How smart was Nature to choose this sumptuous pallet for this time
and place, muted beige and stunning aquamarine, to place them side–by–side in this solitary landscape with a faithful mountain standing guard nearby?
I wonder about the water's temperature. If I dip in my hand, will the water be cool and invigorating? Or warm and welcoming instead? I wonder about
the water's journey that brought it to rest in this lake. Did this liquid jewel start out as snow high atop the distant Andes peaks, to end up here refreshing
the silent desert floor? The early afternoon sunlight bounces off the sun–dappled lake surface. Beyond the lake's distant shore, a chocolate–colored
mountain rises from the desert floor pushing its powdered sugared peaks into the cobalt sky.

The Seattle Area is home to a number of masterpieces of 20th century landscape architecture. During the first week of class, the students and the
instructor will collectively decide on one or more landscapes that they are interested in visiting and will be asked to note what Saturdays they are
available. We will then visit and explore the site(s) together, possibly with a guest speaker, on a Saturday. You will sketch the site and photograph it.

that uses imagery and short blurbs to talk about some of the ideas discussed in the readings and that you observe. The purpose of the assignment is
to explore how combining imagery and short blurbs can be used to narrate the history of a site, its design, and how its design has been received. The
assignment is meant to get you thinking about how photos can be used to promote ideas and represent experience, as well as how photos found in
blogs and magazines can be deceptive– creating visions of a site that are much different than the reality. Each essay must include an introductory blurb

Whereas an actual photo of my phone is considered a depictive representation. These two aspects are used when processing imagery often
complimenting each other. While propositional representations like words or a symbol give, the individual and idea of the object visual cues
can help further explain what a person is seeing. For example Dr. Kosslyn's experiment with the propositional representation of the boat. The boat
is depicted with words next to lines and dots that give the viewer a spatial perception of where everything is located on the boat and how far the
each piece is from another. While it is this image can be considered a drawing, it not an actual depiction of what a boat looks like, the image is
similar to blue prints. While this picture was very informative on how far the propeller is from the anchor I could not help having issues visualizing
what the boat looks like. I myself and not an avid boater, so visualizing the boat that is being depicted spatially is very hard for me. In the end to get

The purpose of my study is to give people a chance to understand what is the meaning of photography and how it was invented, plus how people was

Why I choose this image to work up and do analysis of. Well as a photographer it touches on a theme that I and other photographers must deal with.

Did they feel anger, betrayal, like someone wanted to take advantage of them? This is the main reason that I think the secondary audience was the

In its basic statement this statement on the image is fairly effective. It makes the case in plain language. Although it falls short on the humorous
side. It's a blunt object taken upside of the head. Photographers are more likely to take it seriously, but the photographers who need to know it are

They provide a logical understanding to why authors place elements in certain places on the page. Motion can be emphasized with diagonal
shapes while horizontal shapes emphasize stability. This can be achieved easily in books without using words. One of the principles I had not
realized prior to reading this book is when a shape is placed at the top of the page represents freedom and happiness while placing a shape at the
bottom of the page represents sadness. The burst in the middle of a picture helps the audience focus only on that element. I think the burst still
would be the focus point on the picture even if the red triangle was not in the center. The white color background helps people to feel safe opposed
to the black background that feels dangerous. I have always felt like the color black is a depressing, and dangerous color so I can see why this
principle implies a bad feeling. This entire book intrigued me by allowing me to think outside the box. I have known several of these concepts existed
but never have thought about applying them to picture books. It's amazing to me that an entire book can be read without using any words if the
principles are applied

Why I Want to Be a Photographer
Photography is the process of taking photographs and printing them out. Mostly used for personal purposes, photography is a common object in our
everyday lives. It is used to make memories, track the course of our lives, and simply capture the beauty of and event or object.
The typical day of a photographer is quit diverse. In a typical day photographer photographs subjects or news worthy events, using still cameras –such
as a family, person, animal, wedding, graduation, birthday, place, or other object. They determine desired images and picture composition, such as
when a customer wants blemishes removed. Their cameras need to be adjusted on a regular basis. They are constantly creating artificial lights and
backgrounds to reach the desired effect of the customer. If using a camera that contains film they must have the film processed. Hours are spent going
through hundreds of photos to select the best photo(s). They also use computer software to adjust and enhance the images. (Institute, Typical Day, 2011)
I chose this career for several reasons. The first, is because my aunt is a photographer. She introduced me to photography at a young age and I have been

If I had to describe myself as an animal, I would choose a dog. Surprisingly, I didn't just choose this because I like dogs. Don't get me wrong dogs are

Even though both the tour guide and a pamphlet told everyone exactly what the organization's purpose was, the Mural actually said more than needed
to be said, without the aid of any words. One can agree with Mitchell Stephens' statement in "By Means of the Visible: A Picture's Worth" that "certain
pictures can put most sentences to shame" (486), because the images illustrated in this Mural put, every single word that was written in the UN

Pictures are worth a thousand words, something the average person has heard many times. When looking at a picture, we can easily describe what
we think is happening, what we see, and what the people must be like, but do we really know? When we grow up and take the time to look at old
pictures and reminisce the good 'ole days, many times we're shocked as to what we looked like, who we were friends with, and it takes us back.

Every single holiday and outing, we all spent it together as a family. My favorite memories of us as a family is when we would all get together for
everyone's birthday's and all of us going to our grandparents' home in the summer to go swimming in their pool. I feel as this trip brought us even

"A picture can paint a thousand words." I found the one picture in my mind that does paint a thousand words and more. It was a couple of weeks ago
when I saw this picture in the writing center; the writing center is part of State College. The beautiful colors caught my eye. I was so enchanted by the

The grass was spread out through the whole painting. If you looked hard enough you can see flowers of pink and red growing within the grass.
There were spots of yellow in the grass making the grass look as though it was dying. Then the painting had a patch of grass that had a very vibrant
shade of green, that made the grass look so alive. The grass had a willowy quality that may have suggested that there may have been a breeze.
The river also suggested a breeze, there were ripples that flowed southeast. There were many different shades of blue in the lake and river. The lake had
a darker shade of light blue surrounded by a dark blue then lined with black. The lake appeared to have a light shining either on top or the bottom of
it, which allowed you to see the grass growing under it. The river had a lighter shade of light blue with white lines to show the ripples but it was
surrounded with the same colors as the lake. You did not see any grass growing under the river because there was no light shining on the river.
When I saw the painting for the first time it grabbed my attention. At first I thought it was the beautiful colors that attracted me to the painting, but it
was more. In the picture the shadowy men look scared. They looked as though they were trying to run away from something and this lake that forms
into this river that is surrounded by tall grass is the way out, or at least a place to hide until the coast is clear. During that time in my life I felt
