Background:
I have been working with Adidas group for 10th years, all years in the apparel
industry as a merchandiser in Adidas sourcing Indonesia office so I had been
handled many factories and vary Business Unit throughout the years and my
current role is as a Merchandising Manager Category handling Tuntex group
factory, one of Adidas apparel key supplier that had an OC set up, majority for
Running BU, SMU/SMSU, Promo/Olympic and mi adidas products.
Opportunity:
I was offered by my senior manager for the short terms assignment program in
CCH costing for 6 months. I went for the program because I knew that was a great
opportunity who wouldn’t came twice.
When the journey begun? :
It was in 1st of April 2013, I was landed before the real summer started, the winter
was extended for quiet long, so I had cold summer welcome and did not prepare to
bring sunshine from Jakarta .

Role and responsibility:
I had supporting the BU kids, as for manager costing, basically it is about giving
direction, guidance and supports related to costing, shared the FOB report to
respective BU, senior management and x-functional team in order to show the cost
performance at each key milestones so that the cost issues can be resolved.
What did you learn?
The big part is I learned working with development teams, communicating with x-
functional teams and providing fact based as one of costing way of working so that I
am able to give inputs to development team and marketing.
It was also a good opportunity that I was asked to give supports on the SOP project,
so that I learned how to accommodate the issues and different handling across the
Brand, BU and LO and align the process as much as possible to simplify it. The
challenge was to get agreement if the task is shifting and socialization is needed to
the respective team.
Within costing project, SMV cost based is the biggest project, it will be rolled out in
SS15. I saw the team spirit is passionate and committed, and everybody contributes
their best to add a sustainable value, they are working together with other
department to make it success and fortunately I had the opportunity joining the first
SMV training. The expectation from the training is We are able to drive the project
forward as the trainers and key users.

Experience:
In the headquarter there are approximately 3800 employees, 600 are international
and all from 75 countries, and added me who join with thousand of others who have
come to the adidas group global headquarters in Herzogenaurach so it was really a
great experience to be there.
I work in the World of sports area, We used to called it WOS. My first impression,
just like others I was amazed with the huge offices, it is set up like a campus and
there are several building and laces is the biggest one among others in the World of
sports area (WOS). Surrounding the offices, you can find many sports facility, and
there are lots of events held and if you are lucky you could watch the great
moments like I did, I was one who witnessed Pep Guardiola signed the contract at
the Brand center of WOS and also enjoy the moment when the basketball player
D’rose showing off.

Benefit:
the benefits aren't just organizational. Living in different country and culture can
lead to a rounder, more fulfilling life. Take my experiences, for example, I found
living and working abroad not only improved my understanding of the importance of
cultural and region differences which shaped my mindset, but also helped me build
a global network of friends and colleagues and lasting memories of the places I
visited.

Expectation:
I am excited to have changing career , I would say this is my big achievement to be
costing manager at Adidas Headquarter, my previous work experience were mainly
in development and product costing so I felt that this program could help me
improve in the future.
Recommendation:
The days are just flying, my last day is on 20th September. I would never forget the
experiences, be more outspoken and share your concerns & ideas with others as
you can bring a much more into your team as the best recommendation.
