1. This an abstract ofmy graduation project which is a summary of what i have been reached till now
in this project ”Simulation and hardware implementation of5G communication system”.
5G is the fifth mobile generation wireless communication system that is expected to be deployed
beyond 2020. The International Telecommunication Union (ITU) has decided to call the next
mobile generation IMT-2020. 5G has come to hide the drawbacks of previous generations so that
it will allow higher data rates, lower complexity and greater security. Thus, the main objective of
this project is to simulate and implement two main blocks of 5G communication system. After
thorough research, we find that NOMA is the best recommended technique in 5G, and it consists
of several blocks.
We simulate the 5G NOMA system using FQAM as a mapper, then we implement the major
block of the NOMA system which is LDS. FQAM which is a hybrid between FSK and QAM is
the recommended modulation technique in 5G mobile communication system as it combines the
advantage of having both power and bandwidth efficiency. LDS is used as a multiple access
technique so that each user spreads its data on a small set of subcarriers. Both MATLAB and
VHDL coding are used to simulate and implement the desired blocks of the system.
