Dear Friends of Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts,
I can’t even put into words how much I am en-
joying my time as Executive Director of this vi-
brant, historic, creative, and welcoming art center.
Since coming on board in April, I have had the
pleasure of getting to know so many of you artists
and arts supporters. I am continually impressed
with the high quality of programming and artistic
talent that abounds in this old building.
Peruse this listing of course offerings for the fall
and try out a class to refine skills you already pos-
sess or learn something new, attend a reading or a
coop group, or just make a point to visit the beau-
tiful exhibitions that adorn our gallery walls.
If you aren’t a member already, I encourage
you to join. It is the best way to stay in touch with
us and to get the most out of your creative pur-
suits— and membership is also very affordable and
a good value for your contribution.
As a nonprofit art center, we rely on your sup-
port, whether it is through volunteering, purchasing
from the shop, taking a class, or giving a tax-
deductible gift. Let me know how I can help you
become a supporter of this great place.
Stop in and say hello; I always have time for you!

Practice Writing Group | Tuesdays 10:30am–12:30pm; Free
What is a Practice Writing Group?
We are a collection of established writers, beginners and everyone in-between. We meet week-
ly—regular attendance is not required. A random word or phrase is selected and participants write on
the selection or word of their choice, within a set time limit. Everyone is given the opportunity to share
what they have written, with the option to pass. Those who are present may offer suggestions and en-
couragement, with the awareness this is very rough material. Another word or phrase is selected and
the process continues.
What is the purpose of a Practice Writing Group?
Each writer has their own goals. These may include, but are not limited to:

 • Building a base of writing to further develop.

 • Developing the habit of writing.

 • Meeting other writers.

 • Developing an on-going manuscript.

  • 1. Dear Friends of Banfill-Locke Center for the Arts, I can’t even put into words how much I am en- joying my time as Executive Director of this vi- brant, historic, creative, and welcoming art center. Since coming on board in April, I have had the pleasure of getting to know so many of you artists and arts supporters. I am continually impressed with the high quality of programming and artistic talent that abounds in this old building. Peruse this listing of course offerings for the fall and try out a class to refine skills you already pos- sess or learn something new, attend a reading or a coop group, or just make a point to visit the beau- tiful exhibitions that adorn our gallery walls. If you aren’t a member already, I encourage you to join. It is the best way to stay in touch with us and to get the most out of your creative pur- suits— and membership is also very affordable and a good value for your contribution. As a nonprofit art center, we rely on your sup- port, whether it is through volunteering, purchasing from the shop, taking a class, or giving a tax- deductible gift. Let me know how I can help you become a supporter of this great place. Stop in and say hello; I always have time for you!
