Our program utilizes the 'Blueprint for Workplace Success Curriculum' to help our worker's achieve success in their search for meaningful employment, or to further their education goals.
2. Welcome to Guja Natut’inna Pre-Employment Skills
Building Program.
We are going to approach this program as if you are new employees who have
already been hired and we are your supervisors. You will be expected to act as if
you are at work every day. So let’s think for a moment about what it means to be
ready for work.
3. We have adapted the “Blueprint for Success” curriculum which originates from the U.S.
Department of Labor Relations and is used to identify skills that are needed for job
success in a global market.
What you learn will equip you job seeking and job keeping skills; and will provide the
knowledge you need to perform well on the job.
The curriculum has a pre and post test that validates your level of skill attainment and
provide a framework for certification.

5. What are the benefits of participating in this program?
By tapping into your natural talents, abilities and skills you will gain insight about your
personal motivation and you will build confidence to take the leadership role in creating
the future you want.
You will learn the skills needed to be productive learners and earners in the
workplace and you will understand the relationship between what is taught in the
classroom and what is required in the workplace.

❖ Attendance, punctuality and dress = 40% of your grade
❖ Participation and teamwork = 20% of your grade
❖ Completion of assignments = 20% of your grade
❖ Attitude and creative contributions = 20%
7. Here is a quick outline of what we will cover
1. Self Discovery: By making wise choices and taking responsibility for your desired
outcomes of the program, you will learn how your interests, abilities and skills can
transfer to work opportunities
2. Time Management: You will learn how to focus on priority tasks, keep track of
time and set reasonable and attainable goals
3. Understanding Workplace Skills: You will learn what employers are looking for by
assessing your own qualities and skills.
8. 4. Realities of the Job Market: You will learn about Job Trends in Alberta that will
enhance your employability skills
5. Effective Communication Skills:You will learn that what you say and how you act
can either open doors to opportunities, or close them. Learning how to listen and use
effective verbal and non-verbal communication are the critical tools for success.
6. Skills and Knowledge of Contacting Employers: You will learn that there is a
whole strategy for contacting employers, if if you do it right, the interviews will follw.
You will also learn how to obtain the documents required for employment (SIN #, ID
Education regords etc.)
9. 7. Build Confidence: You will learn how to take control of the job interview and
impress the interviewer.
8. Manage Money: You will learn how to understand the details of a paycheck and
manage your money that will help you to make more choices towards attaining your goals.
9. How to Keep a Job: Learning what it takes to keep a job will reduce the
likelyhood of being fired ..and may increase opportunities for advancement.
