Gunjan Sharma's document discusses air and water pollution. It defines pollution and pollutants, then describes the main types of pollution - air and water pollution - and their causes. Air pollution sources include smoke from industry, vehicles, and biomass burning. Water pollution sources are sewage, dumping, oil, and industrial waste. The effects of pollution on health, environment, and property are outlined. Finally, solutions to control air pollution like renewable energy and controlling industrial emissions, and solutions to water pollution like reducing chemical usage and littering are presented.

4. INTRO Pollution is the introduction of
contaminants into the natural
environment that cause adverse
change.
Pollution can take the form of any
substance or energy. Pollutants, the
components of pollution, can be either
foreign substances/energies or
naturally occurring contaminants.
What is Pollution ?
5. A pollutants may be defined as a physical,
chemical or
biological substance unintentionally released into
the environment which is directly or
indirectly harmful to humans and other living
organisms.
What is Pollutants?
The agents which cause environmental
pollution are called pollutants.
6. TYPES &
CAUSES
Pollution types and it’s
causes
AIR Pollution
It can be defined as addition of any
contaminant to the air which causes harm to
the health of living organisms
7. Smoke from domestic, industrial and vehicular
soot.
Fly ash Part of smoke released from Adds
chimneys of factories power plants.
SOURCES
8. Causes
Caused by solid and liquid particles and certain gases
that are suspended in the air. These particles and gases
can come from car and truck exhaust, factories, dust,
pollen, mold spores, volcanoes and wildfires.
9. EFFECTS &
SOLUTIONS
.
• Health problems
• Damage to the environment
• Damage to property
• Thinning of the protective ozone layer of the
atmosphere which is leading to climate changes..
10. SOLUTIONS
The air pollution can be controlled by using smokeless
fuels like LPG, PNG (Piped Natural Gas).
Solar water heaters should be installed to obtain hot water.
The air pollution from motor vehicles can be reduced by
using CNG (Compressed Natural Gas).
The air pollution from factories, industries, thermal power
stations, oil refineries, etc can be controlled by washing their
smoke and waste gases with jets of water.
The air pollution can be controlled by using non-polluting
sources of energy like solar energy, wind energy and hydro
energy for generating electricity
11. Water
pollution
Pollution types and it’s
causes
It can be defined as “the presence of
impurities and foreign substance in water in
such a quantity that lowers its quality and
makes it unfit for consumption and causes
health hazard.
12. The fertilizers and chemical industries
Incinerators,Coal burning power plants
Plastics thrown in river
SOURCES
13. Causes
There are many causes of water pollution, some of them
are: Sewage or wastewater, Dumping, Oil pollution ,Acid
rain ,Industrial waste.
14. Water
Pollution
Water pollution is a serious threat to humans,
animals, and aquatic life.
Bodies of water that are near urbanized areas
tend to be heavily polluted by dumbing of
garbage and chemicals, both legally and
illegally, by industrial plants, health centers,
and individuals.
15. SOLUTIONS
Be careful about what you throw down your sink or toilet.
Use environmentally household products, such as washing powder,
household cleaning agents and toiletries.
Take great care not to overuse pesticides and fertilisers.
Don't throw litter into rivers, lakes or oceans.

the worth of water
till the well is dry.”
