Bullying takes many forms including physical, verbal, social, and cyber bullying. Bullies may act that way to gain power, because of their own experiences with rejection, or copying their parents' behaviors. Victims of bullying may show warning signs like not acting like themselves or having unexplained injuries. Both bullies and victims are at risk for problems like poor grades, depression, and substance abuse. Bystanders can also be negatively impacted by witnessing bullying. The document encourages students to avoid and report bullying, and to not bully back as it only makes the situation worse.
3. Types of Bullying
Physical- any physical contact that would hurt or injure a person.
Ex. Hitting, Kicking, punching, and damaging people’s things.
4. Verbal- hurtful or mean things a bully says to you.
Ex. Calling people names, teasing and joking about them, like gender,
ethnicity, or the way they look.
5. Social or Indirect- leaving someone out from a group or game and
spreading secrets about someone on purpose.
Ex. Telling stories, rumors, or lies, ignoring someone, and pointing out
differences.
6. Cyber bullying- sending mean or hurtful messages to others through
technology.
Ex. Computers (email, chat, post) or phones (text, voicemail, pictures)

A way to gain power or popularity.

Think children will harm them, so they fight to defend themselves or
to show they are strong.
Have friends who bully.
