Professional Bio
With over 25 years of experience in private equity and multinational executive
management and board positions, combined with technology and energy-focused
consulting experience (business development, restructuring, mergers, acquisitions),
Greg has extensive expertise and demonstrated achievements in leading investee
companies and operating subsidiaries in: Power (conventional and alternative),
pipelines, petroleum, other natural resources, technology development (e.g. smart
metering), infrastructure, manufacturing, agribusiness and sustainable development,
financial services, and commodities/fuels trading.
He has served on ten energy subsidiary boards, acting as lead board member on
behalf of private equity and corporate owners, and served as Chairman of two of the
companies, including a publicly traded integrated electric utility. He has led and
participated in over US$1.5 billion of M&A transactions, as well as the successful
restructuring of the $1 billion oil and gas subsidiary of a $10 billion diversified group in
insolvency. He has broad economic and financial analysis skill sets and expertise.
Greg has served as CEO of both developing country power and gas pipeline
companies, having delivered profits 50% above budget for a $350 million cross-border
pipeline company. He has also worked with a number of large energy multinationals,
such as Exxon/Imperial Oil and Gulf Canada, in international JV/business
development, finance (including restructuring) and technical roles, as well as in private
equity. As Regional VP for a private equity generation holding company responsible
for $1 billion of assets, he restructured investments in seven companies held in five
countries and led the one year turnaround of a $200 million power generator from $(33)
million to $12 million profit with perfect safety record.
Greg has global financing capabilities. As Divisional CFO (Manager, International
Finance) for a $150 million international division, he held full planning, budgeting and
reporting (PBR) and business development responsibilities in Indonesia, Africa and
Russia on behalf of a $1 billion multinational. US GAAP and IFRS.
Greg is currently President of Mount Rundle Financial, a financial, transaction (M&A)
and international strategy-oriented advisory. He holds an MBA with distinction from the
International Management Institute (now IMD) in Switzerland, is a Canadian Petroleum
Engineer (Life Member) and holds a B.A.Sc. in Industrial Engineering from the
University of Toronto.
He currently represents a number of companies, including Quantum Energy (Fluidized
Beds) llc (Chicago), TradeMed llc (New Hampshire), Diogenes Fiduciary Technologies
(Virginia), Frontier Power (UK), China Communications Construction Company and
Greenlid Environmental (Toronto).
