Austin Travis County Reentry Roundtable –Community-wide collaborative and
catalyst for systemic change that educates, facilitates, and advocates to promote
public safety through effective reentry and reintegration of incarcerated and formerly
incarcerated persons. Former Chair of the Policy Reform Committee.
Austin Area Comprehensive HIV Planning Council – Past Mayor appointed member
of this body which made policy, program and funding recommendations for
organizations that serve persons with HIV and related disorders.
Austin Area Homeless Coalition – Past Secretary for this interagency policy, program
and coordinating body concerning persons who are homeless.
5. Council for Advising and Planning for the Prevention and Treatment of Mental
and Substance Use Disorders (CAP) - The CAP advocates for the needs of Texans
with mental illness and/or substance use disorders by monitoring services, approving
the State Plan for comprehensive community health care and advising the State on
ways to effectively guide the provision of these supports and services. Past Chair,
Rules Committee.
The Ending Community Homelessness Coalition (ECHO) – ECHO is dedicated to
planning, prioritizing, and developing strategies to end homelessness in Austin/Travis
County, TX. Current Vice Chair of the Membership Council.
PATHNET – Past Co-Chair of the National Association of State Homeless Program
Directors. Co-authored program and policy manual for State Homeless Program
Administrators.
Sex Offender Civil Commitment Multidisciplinary Team – Past appointee of this
statutorily-created panel that makes recommendations for civil commitment of
individual offenders as sexually violent predators.
Tarrant County ACCESS for the Homeless, Inc., Fort Worth, Texas – Past
Advisory Board Member for this interagency organization which made policy,
program and funding recommendations for organizations which serve person who are
homeless in Tarrant County, Texas.
Texas Mental Health Planning and Advisory Council (MHPAC) – Former
member of the Texas' Mental Health Planning and Advisory Council (MHPAC)
created as a result of the federal requirement that States and Territories engage in
mental health planning in order to receive federal Mental Health Block Grant funds.
To continue this important work and also include a focus on substance use disorders,
the MHPAC was superseded by the creation of the Texas Council for the Advising
and Planning (CAP) for the Prevention and Treatment of Mental and Substance Use
Disorders in November 2011.
Texas Homeless Network (THN), Austin, Texas – Past Advisory Board member for
this regional organization that provides training and technical assistance to
organizations that serve persons who are homeless. Received the Kathy Reid Award
from THN for “making a significant impact in ending homelessness at the state and
national level.”
Texas Interagency Council for the Homeless – Past Chair (six terms) and Advisory
Board member of this statutorily created council. Instituted by-laws, strategic plan
and a State Action Plan to End Homelessness. Hosted organization review by the
Texas Sunset Commission. Provide testimony to legislative committees.
