Experience and Responsibilities
Part of the team responsible for standing up and running The Boeing Portal, an advanced facility
for analysis, modelling, simulation and experimentation. Responsible for terrain generation and
correlation for distributed systems including VBS2, MaK VR-Forces and in-house Open Scene
Graph based software, using Presagis TeraVista and VBS2 terrain tools. Responsible for Audio-
Visual system configuration using Vista Spyder control software. Involved in integration of
distributed experiments using DIS and HLA both locally and internationally between US,
Australian and Indian facilities. Extensive GIS experience gained using GlobalMapper and various
web based mapping technologies, particularl ReadyMap.

Member of the flight dynamics and simulation group with responsibility for analysis of requirements
and simulation of threat environments and computer generated forces (CGF) using the Cae
product Interactive Tactical Environment Management System (ITEMS). Development of Laser
Guided Bomb simulation written in FORTRAN interfaced to real-time, PC based C++ simulator
harness called RTAVS (Real-Time All Vehicle Simualtor). Responsible for development and
maintenance of real time 3D visual flight databases for PC simulator using MultiGen II Pro ported
to P10 Primary Image graphics cards. Development of large-scale terrain database generation for
Onyx2 Infinite Reality visualisation system. Development of thermal simulation of Night Vision
Goggles using PSI SensorVision and SensorWorks.

Member of the attitude and orbit control systems (AOCS) group designing the AOCS for the X-ray
Multi-Mirror (XMM) spacecraft. Responsibility for initial design of the inertial pointing mode of the
AOCS using a linear model written in MatrixX/Xmath. Initial stability analysis of the control law was
carried out using linear design package CC. Responsible for coding, testing and maintaining a full
non-linear simulation of the inertial pointing mode in the six degree of freedom FORTRAN
mathematical model of the spacecraft.

Part of system test facility support group providing real-time software and hardware support for
three hardware in the loop test rigs used by the system integration and test group to test flight
critical software for Full Authority Digital Engine Controllers. Role involves writing and maintaining
real-time simulations of three engine types (Trent 800, Trent 700 and BR710) including a testbed
ARINC system and test language facility written in ADA. The engine simulations are ported from
Vax workstations to three Encore hosts, one of which runs Unix. Also involved in maintaining test

January 1993 - July 1994.
Development and maintenance of real-time simulations of the TAY and TRENT engines for use on
systems test facility rig, aircraft simulators and for development of EEC (Electronic Engine
Controller) control laws. The engine simulations are written in TSIM/FORTRAN using state space
methods. Development of starting regime engine model using system identification techniques
including least squares and Pseudo Random Binary Sequence in MATLAB. Verification of engine
model validity against non real time thermodynamic models, engine test bed data and flight test
data.
