How can you
avoid rambling
when presenting?
Write it out
or draw it
Short sentence =
Complete thought
Short sentence =
Less likely to use filler
words like “um” + “ah”
Don’t get lost in your thoughts
Stay in the moment - observe audience reactions
Listen to what you are actually saying
Finish the sentence (a complete thought) +
then pause:
So the audience can absorb what
you’ve said
To give yourself a chance to breathe +
think about what comes next
For dramatic effect
Practice the transition
to the next thought
