2. Mental health does not only refer to the absence of mental illness but also the ability and
willingness to face the challenges that life throws at you. Everyone's mental health is just as
important as their physical health. Teens often experiment with their appearances, behaviors, and
attitudes.
3. While most of these experiments are harmless, some
may produce disastrous results. Many mental health
problems that youth and children experience include
stress, anxiety, harassments, family problems,
depression, learning disabilities, and other issues. Youth
are experiencing more serious mental health issues,
including suicide attempts and self-injurious behavior. If
a youth is struggling with mental health issues such as
depression, unsteadiness due to family, academic or
social pressures, they will not be able to succeed
academically and personally.
Negative consequences include increased academic
failure, social isolation and unsafe sexual
behavior. According to a recent report, the rising rate of
mental and emotional problems in American children
and youth is a sign that there is a crisis.
4. More children and teens are being affected by
depression, anxiety, attention deficits, conduct disorders,
suicidal thoughts, and other serious psychological
issues. According to conservative estimates, one in ten
children and teens suffers from severe mental illness that
can cause impairment. Unfortunately, many children and
teens don't receive the support they need even if it is
detected earlier. According to some reports, most
children and teens who require a mental health
assessment do not receive them and the use rates for
mental health services are low.
Adults and parents must look after the mental health of
their youth. Parents and adults should talk to the youth
and be role models. They must also advise them to make
good friends and keep track of their activities.
