Affordable basic services produced decent men and women
1. Affordable basic services produced decent men and women:
Basic services and infrastructure of the country are the basis for development. The
country where they are available for most of the population always goes forward. The
percentage of GDP that is used in social investment, services and infrastructure is
directly proportional to the level of development. For example, Mexico had 7.2% of
social investment in relation to GDP while except Ireland and Iceland doubling
investment in Mexico, all European countries over 20% Source: Social expenditure:

Unfortunately it is difficult to estimate the role of corruption in this, but if it is enough to dispel
the myth that social spending is reduced because of development. Furthermore, if for example
in Mexico half of that 7.2% is that going to the pockets of corrupt officials, social spending
becomes close to nothing , further hampered development.
In countries where corruption at the operational level is culturally rooted institutionalized public
services becomes a big problem. To this must be added the lack of interest of public employees
and disadvantages of bureaucracy. The problem is people, not the system because many
developed countries with strong public investment incentive schemes have been obtained
similar results like those of private companies. A public servant who best serves the public and
makes more money that the mediocre one. An example is the “commission paid style” doctors
recived per patient in the english healt system.
The availability and low cost of public services like communications, electricity, water, greatly
improves the competitiveness of the country as a stimulus for investment. Health services,
education and food availability can be public and private, but the lack or poor quality of the
products available to the majority of the population, its high cost either by speculation or
inflationary policies or lack of a free market governed by competition and not by grabbing
economic cartels, can cause many social problems such as seizures. The revolutions of the
countries of North Africa were caused not by political or religious ideology but primarily by the
increase in cost of food. A government that ensures low cost of basic services and public or
private will therefore have less social problems. Privatization must be done very carefully
ensuring further income for the state or whit the aid or strong regulation to protect consumers.
Among these drawbacks is the high operating cost for individual businesses which affects the
overall competitiveness of a country for any foreign or local investor. It also has impact on
human development indices placing people in a vulnerable position and makes business less
efficient hindering the lack of results and the profits they perceive because of higher costs.
Energy is one of the more expensive services within the household and business spending.
Electricity and fuel are always the biggest spending on any business. One source of cheap and
clean energy produced from domestic resources must be the dream of any government or
population. Getting rid of poverty means bringing down the levels of violence too.
Affordable energy is one of the pillars to sustained development, to improve competitiveness
and seek self-sufficiency as a sobering nation . It is also important to dignify human beings
especially in third world, countries that called for his long and difficult history of injustice and
inequality has led to low self-esteem in the population.
2. Private and public research and development of energy projects should be a priority in any
government plan and one of the most important areas where major infrastructure investment
should be made during his tenure.
