Shannon Clayton, a musician, has been invited to talk about her passion for cars. She grew up around racing, as her father was a stock car driver and mechanic. Shannon began racing at a young age and won several trophies. While she no longer races due to her music career, she still loves cars and driving fast. The band was initially supportive but concerned about her racing and missing rehearsals. Shannon sees herself as a good driver who enjoys speed and drifting, but does so safely. She had aspirations to race professionally in formulas or touring cars.

1. Unveil Havana’s Shannon Clayton has been invited to Wah-Wah to talk about her other love beside
music. After the tattoo issue we decided to focus on another part of our artist’s in which we don’t
know much about but would like to learn more of, and after seeing the many videos in particular You
don’t faze me made with on board video cameras and Shannon herself actually driving and drifting in
the video, we knew she would be the No.1 person to present this issue.
When we spoke to Shannon the first response we got was “what sort of cars?” and that’s when we
lost her. We asked “Why do you like cars so much then Shannon what is your attraction to them?”
she replied “Well it started from a very early age I guess. I mean like, my dad was a stock car driver
and has been a mechanic since he left school when we was 15 and because of that as soon as I could
enter the junior races I was there is my overalls.” “Did you ever win anything for your racing?” “Yes I
did three! When I was 7 I won the trophy for the junior prodrods and another one for the same thing
when I was 7 then my third when I was 17 Banger racing at Wimbledon Arena. The other racers were
pretty gutted about that seeing as I was the only female and the youngest. I showed them!” “ What
does the band think of all this then?” “Well I don’t race now I don’t have time but when we first
came together and I was still racing they were supportive but I can tell that Grant (Grant Summers,
Drummer) sometimes got a bit annoyed about it.” “Why’s that then?” “Oh only because they think I
all have a death wish I and I used to miss a hell of a lot of rehearsals. Mind you they still all think I
have a death wish now! Haha!”“ would you say you’re a good driver?” “Yeah I would I’d say I’m
good, yeah I have a thing for speed and hell yeah I have a thing for drifting and going sidey ways but
I do it safely… most of the time (whispers) don’t put that bit in yeah.” “haha, would you of ever
wanted to go into cars?” “Yeah I was at college doing a BTech shit thing of light motors, but it was
crap. I had my heat really set on racing and racing in the formula ford or anything in the BTCC.
