This five-day field trip with give students an in-person viewing of the historical locations. The common core state standard that will be covered is: CCSS.ELA-LITERACY.RH.6-8.10 - By the end of grade 8, read and comprehend history/social studies texts in the grades 6-8 text complexity band independently and proficiently.

6. DAY 1 – LINCOLN
MEMORIAL
• The Lincoln Memorial consists of 36 columns, one
representing each state at the death of President
Lincoln. The most obvious is the standing of the
19-foot tall Lincoln statue.
7. DAY 2 – WASHINGTON
MONUMENT
• The monument has an open viewing at the top and
even has a new elevator added in its new design. Its
different colors displayed is due to the halt of
construction in 1854 and resumed in 1879 using
different colored marble.
8. DAY 3 – WORLD WAR II
MEMORIAL
• This memorial holds the
names of more than 400,000
soldiers who fought and
sacrificed their lives during
World War II. Located at the
center of the memorial is a
water fountain. There are
fifty-six columns symbolizing
the unity of the 48 states,
seven federal and the District
of Columbia. There are 4,048
gold stars (one star
represents 100 Americans)
who lost their lives in the war.
9. DAY 4 – THE
WHITE HOUSE
• The White House is a symbol of
Democracy. Every president of the
United States has lived in the
White House except for President
George Washington. Displays and
artifacts show the history and story
of the White House as a symbol,
stage, and a home.
10. DAY 5 – NATIONAL AIR
AND SPACE MUSEUM
• Holding the world’s collection of historic aircraft and
spacecraft, the National Air and Space Museum is
the center for research and science such as the Earth
and Planetary Studies. Such sciences and theories
derive from this great location.
