ACAR (Aluminium Conductors Alloy Reinforced) cables have a central core of aluminium alloy wires surrounded by an outer layer of pure aluminium, offering excellent corrosion resistance and a balance of mechanical and electrical properties. The cables use 1350 grade pure aluminium and 6201 grade aluminium alloy, providing variable strength to weight ratios and higher conductivity than AAAC cables. ACAR cables are a compromise between AAC, ACSR and AAAC cables and can be used for both transmission and distribution circuits.
