Hippocrates believed that the brain enables thinking, seeing, hearing, and distinguishing the beautiful from the ugly, and that it is the messenger to the understanding. In contrast, Aristotle did not think the brain was responsible for any sensation at all and that making claims about the brain's functions was flawed since knowledge was limited until the discovery of neurons.
