1. Are you still in survival mode, making the best of a bad situation? Do you believe life can
be better but find it do scarey to try? Have you just given up thinking God has somehow
forgotten you, do you really believe that. Well the man at the pool of Bethesda thought
the same thing, John 5:1-8. Jesus asked the man if he wanted to be healed. Instead of
saying yes he gave him reasons why it didn’t happen. Is that us?
Are we just exhibiting a system of survival or are you ready to be delivered? This man
was 38 years at the pool. He had his bed there and probably everything else he needed. It
was 38 years. He probably felt this was all there was left to life. This was the amount of
time the Isrealites were in the wilderness before the last original person died off so the
rest could enter the promised land.
As with Joshua and with us, God is our strength not ourselves. Same is so in the new
testament, God will never leave us or forsake us no matter what we do. If we would but
listen to the still small voice he wants to show us how to get out of the mess. Are you like
the man at the pool finding reasons to stay there rather than ways to rise above it.
Are you just in survival mode making the place where you are comfortable believing
there is nothing more. Are you learning how to breakout of the place you are for a dream
you have in your heart. Jesus came so you could be more, do more, have more.
The bible says that Jesus came so we could have life and have it more abundantly, John
10:10. Ps 138:2-3 says if I worship toward thy holy temple and praise thy name for thy
loving kindness and thy truth, for thou has magnified thy word above thy name. In the
day when I cried thou answered me and strengthened me with strength in my soul.
Don’t curse your deliverance by continuing the word of doubt, unbelief, lack of strength,
or feeling you deserve better. None of us deserve better. We all fall short of the glory of
God. If that were not so why did God sacrifice his son, his only son. He did it because he
loved us. He did it because he knew we couldn’t do it on our own. This is why when he
gave the law he also gave them a way to help them not stay in their sins. That is why the
old testament had the blood sacrifices. They were to mark the way for the final sacrifice
that of Jesus Christ.
Survival is not enough. Dare to dream. Dare to take the bible at it’s word. It is time to
take a look at Jesus. What did he do when things were difficult? He prayed to the Father
to show him what to say and do. All the promises of God are yes and amen, 2 corinthians
1:20. Write it down. Put it in small steps. Believe to receive it. Claim it, Mark 11:22-25.
Did Jesus die for nothing. Are we going to be complacient and accept where we are as the
end of the road?
Freedom come with a price. As born again believers we have the power and authority to
have it all according to the bible. Why according to the bible? You cant rob a bank and
believe God will protect you from getting caught. The bible make no provision for that.
Freedom is not a condition, it is a destiny. It is a nontraditional miracle. We have to
believe that what God has put in our heart he is able and willing to do. Never because I
2. deserve it. It is always because of His love for us. It is to glorify God and show others
that He stands on His word. He doesn’t change. What he does for one he will do for
others. Dare to believe. Dare to dream. Write it down. Make it plain. Habbakuk 2 tells us
that when we do that God is working with us to make it real. Believe it. Meditate on it.
See yourself doing it. Bring it to life in your mind’s eye. Hold on to it. Don’t concern
yourself with where you are now but focus on where your dream is taking you.
Romans4:12 tells us to call things that be not as though they are. God is on my side. God
loves me. God can be trusted. If you feel he cannot it is because you have been taught by
man’s tradition not by God’s word.
In the old covenant man had to earn what he obtained. The law was perfect and he was
not. That all changed when Jesus came and went to the cross. We don’t hav to earn
anything Jesus did it all. We need to believe the word. Speak the word only the word. Get
rid of the negativity hang on to the positive. Cast your burden on Jesus Math11:28-30
tells us to give our burdens to Jesus and take his for his is light. We were never made to
carry the burden of our own provision. We were to walk out the one he made provision
for each of us to have. We were to have life and have it more abundantly. Greater is he
that is in you than he that is in the world. If He, God, gave his son for us why do we not
believe that he would not provide for our every need and even want. You say that is
going to far that isn’t even all of it.
God wants to bring heaven to earth. What does the lords prayer say, Math6:8-12 tell us
just that. The bible also tells us we have the power and authority to do that. How? We
are to bind on earth what is not accepted in heaven. Does heaven have your
poverty, your oppression, your depression, your sickness. No, of course not so then why
do you? Does heaven have abundance in provision? Then loose it on earth. Claim it for
yourself Claim it outloud as Jesus did. He only said and did what the Father told him to
say and do. He brought heaven to earth. He was the example for us to show us how to
bring heaven to earth.
As with Adam and Eve the dominion of earth was given to them. God can only do what
we say he can’t act independently of anyone. He needs people to carry out his will. Will
each of us be that people or not. Dare to believe, the choice is yours. Dare to claim the
word and watch it happen. The choice is yours and mine. Let’s go for it like the man at
the pool. He was done being stuck in his wows. He was ready to break out. Claim it. Stop
focusing on the past. Stop focusing on the present. Focus on the word and it’s provision
for you and watch God go to work.
