  3. 3. Tithing: The Discipline of returningthe first 10% of your income back to God.
  4. 4. Malachi 3:8-9 8 “Will a mere mortal rob God? Yet you rob me. But you ask, „How are we robbing you?‟ “In tithes and offerings. 9 You areunder a curse—your whole nation— because you are robbing me.
  5. 5. Blessed business: Malachi 3:11-12 Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says theLORD Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing thatthere will not be room enough to store it.
  6. 6. I will prevent pests from devouring your crops, and the vines in yourfields will not drop their fruit before it is ripe,” says the LORD Almighty. “Then all the nations will call you blessed, for yours will be a delightful land,” says the LORD Almighty.

  10. 10. ...but isnt that just the Old Testament? Jesus affirms tithing Matthew 23:23“Woe to you, teachers of the law andPharisees, you hypocrites! You give a tenth of your spices—mint, dill and cumin.
  11. 11. mercy and faithfulness. You should have practiced the latter, without neglecting the former.
  12. 12. The tithe in the New Testament is the absolute beginning point.

No one claimed that any of their possessions was their own, but they shared everything theyhad. 33 With great power the apostlescontinued to testify to the resurrection of the Lord Jesus. And God‟s gracewas so powerfully at work in them all
  14. 14. that there were no needy persons among them. For from time to time those who owned land or houses sold them, brought the money from thesales 35 and put it at the apostles‟ feet, and it was distributed to anyone who had need.
