John Carney graduated from Penn Hills High School
in 2015 and is glad to have been hired at Bunting.
He is working as a brake press operator and helps
out wherever he can. Although he currently lives
with his parents and two sisters, John would like to
move to his own place now that he is working full time. In the
meantime, he loves camping and kayaking (he owns five kayaks).
Bunting Graphics, Inc. has recently hired Brandyn
Peyton as a painter. Brandyn moved to the
Pittsburgh area from Zanesville, Ohio for a job with
the steel industry. Now he is working for Bunting
and enjoying his time in the shop. Brandyn has a
degree in Petroleum Engineering from Marietta College—Go
Pioneers!
Tony Skowronski grew up in North Braddock but
now lives in Edgewood. He joins Bunting as a laser
machine operator after a varied career in places such
as US Steel and Chelsea Building Products. Tony
likes music and sports – especially baseball. When
it is baseball season Tony enjoys attending the weekend Pirate
games. He says the Steelers and Penguins are great, too.

Changes along the Allegheny
New Employees
Across the City of Pittsburgh, the days
are getting shorter and the nights are
getting colder. As autumn changes to
winter, the Pittsburgh Penguins are
getting ready to take the ice at Consol…
a-hem… PPG Paints Arena. Despite
the fact that Pittsburgh Plate Glass
Company was once known as the“Glass
Trust”today the company is choosing to
emphasis its more profitable coatings
offerings. Across the Allegheny River
from the home of the Pens, you can spot
the Arconic building: a “new” company
created this year to allow Klaus Kleinfeld
and his staff to focus on more profitable
engineered metals and allow others to
manage the smelting of aluminum that
the ALuminum COmpany of America
pioneered in the late 19th Century.
Further up the river, in Verona, the
employees of Bunting Graphics, Inc.
are manufacturing architectural metal
panel systems for clients in New York
City, Washington, DC, and the Boston
metropolitan area. These clients have
beenturnedonbyBuntingArchitectural
Metals’ ability to cut, form, and coat
under the same roof. Although these
changes, like most, appear to have
taken place over night, the framework
of our business’s shift has been realized
only after years of strategic thinking and
gutsy investments.
Truth be told, we didn’t expect it to
happen this rapidly! Last year our
management team projected that a
stretch goal for 2016 would be 70%
metals balanced with 30% of signage
projects. Yet as anyone walking through
our shop will see, despite the occasional
Orlando VA order or Cap Metro work,
the mix is more like 95% metals, 5%
signage.
As summer transitions into winter, the
days feel colder and uncomfortable. But
we adjust! A “cold day” today will be a
“warm day” in the spring. At Bunting,
although changes have felt uneasy
at first, our team has leveraged their
incredible talents and learned new skills
along the way! Our plant is clean, well-
organized, safe, and process-driven.
New work is pouring in, which should
make all of us happy!

Bunting employee Louis Irizarry
was recently honored at the 2016
Fuerza Awards Gala, a celebration
of Latin Culture in Pittsburgh.
With family roots in Utuado,
Puerto Rico, Louis moved to
Pittsburgh a little over three years
ago from Youngstown. While it is
only 66 miles from Youngstown
to Pittsburgh, he has come a long
way since that time. By meeting people and taking advantage
of what this city has to offer, Louis has been able to be part
of organizations that strive to improve the lives of young
people, especially Latinos. This growth is what drives Louis to
continue advancing his career. When he started working at
Bunting Graphics, Inc., Louis quickly took on the responsibility
of managing the company’s human resource compliance needs
in addition to handling various accounting functions. While he
has a diverse professional background, Louis is an accountant at
heart and is pursuing his CPA licensure in Pennsylvania. As Louis’
roots deepen in Pittsburgh, he hopes that the city can continue
to attract the kinds of folks that add to its vibrant tapestry.

Ed Kotewicz, September 2016
There are often times when being a Bunting installer can be a
thankless job. In addition to the long work hours, and living out
of a suitcase, our installers spend weeks away from home working
alongside folks they’ve never worked with before to ensure Bunting
is well-represented! Ed Kotewicz has spent the better portion of
the last two months in Minneapolis making sure the Viking Ship installation was
completed on time and within budget. His daily routine consisted of everything
from torqueing bolts 60 feet in the air and making “Home Depot runs” for last
minute parts to reassuring high-level Viking officials that everything would be
completed on time. Ed, this was a fabulous installation and your efforts deserve
recognition! Thank you!
Mike Tarasky, Jr., October 2016
In his 14 years with the company, Mike T Jr. has held many different
roles. In his current role as Materials Requirement Planner (MRP),
Mike works with the D&E, Project Management, Supply Chain, and
Production departments on a regular basis to ensure the materials
we need arrive correctly and promptly! This past month, when our
laser was down, Mike lead the charge to ensure our Production didn’t miss a beat:
nesting parts and preparing outsourcing packages so our Supply Chain partners
had everything they needed to cut parts and return them to us quickly. Mike works
hard and is quick to learn new software and adapt to the changes in our products
and services. Thank you, Mike, for being a valuable member of Team Bunting!
Luke Mattocks, November 2016
Luke works tirelessly at successfully fulfilling everyone’s short and
long term purchasing needs. He has years of experience and is a
fountain of knowledge when it comes to sourcing the materials and
supplies we need. Everyone at Bunting trusts him to get what they
need, when they need it, no matter how little advance notice he is
given. He does a yeoman’s work in satisfying those needs.
Luke is a true team player who maintains that“get-it-done”zeal while
exemplifying a positive attitude.
Local Food & Drink Rivertowne Inn,
I wrote a series of articles for our
company newsletter this year with
the titles “The Question Is,” “Team,” and
“Judging Others.” These articles were
written with the intent of provoking
thought and conversation between us.
For the final article of this year, I feel it
would be appropriate to address: “What
Have We Learned”.
It is obvious to everyone by now that
this has been a year of big changes for
our company. The markets we serve
have significantly changed. We have
undertaken to master the operation
and understanding of the paint line,
develop the techniques necessary to
create flexibility in our shop floor to
organize work on a per-job basis, and
gauge productivity in an entirely new
way, to name a few. The influx of
metal panel jobs, additional rules, more
paperwork, more committees and more
meetings are now an expectation. We
have seen old friends leave; while of
those remaining, some step up to do
different jobs while others learn new
skills. We have laughed and shared
heartache together. But now the big
question: what have we learned?
I can tell you what I have learned:
• I learned to not be afraid.
• I learned to be confident.
• I learned to embrace change and
run with it.
• I learned a new skill by spending
nearly 6 months working in the A/P
department. Isteppedoutofmycomfort
zone and had a terrific experience.
• I learned to take Strategic
Initiatives that are identified by upper
management and discover ways to
make them work.

We have seen old friends leave; while of those remaining, some step up to do different jobs while others learn new skills. We have laughed and shared heartache together. But now the big question: what have we learned? I can tell you what I have learned: • I learned to not be afraid. • I learned to be confident. • I learned to embrace change and run with it. • I learned a new skill by spending nearly 6 months working in the A/P department. Isteppedoutofmycomfort zone and had a terrific experience. • I learned to take Strategic Initiatives that are identified by upper management and discover ways to make them work.
