This study aimed to determine the effectiveness of using phonemic awareness strategies to increase the reading level of preschool pupils at Damortis Child Development Center for the 2022 school year. Specifically, it examined students' performance on pre-tests and post-tests, and whether there was an improvement between test scores. It also considered teachers' experiences with using phonemic awareness activities like letter games. The study employed a pre-test post-test design with 30 preschool pupils. Data was collected through tests, questionnaires, and interviews to analyze reading performance and the impact of the phonemic awareness instruction.

Learning to read is one of the most important skills for a child to acquire during the primary grades in school,
and though learning to speak comes naturally to children, learning to read does not. One factor that was
consistently found with children who were identified as at-risk in this study was a lack of phonemic awareness.

PROCEDURE
PHASE I
Preparation of materials and coordinating with the Principal of Preschool and
Parent/Guardian of the Pupils. The researchers will first coordinate with the principal of
preschool by giving a letter before conducting this study. Also, the letter to the
parent/guardians of the participants before answering the pre-test and post-test provided
including the pupils profile. For the preparation of materials, the researchers prepare pre-
test and post-test covering the Phonemic Awareness with the Table of Specification (TOS)
and other instrumental materials.
PHASE II
Gathering of Data. In this part, the researchers will collect data including the age, sex, other
information and the scores of each pupils to their pre-test and post-test.
PHASE III
Processing of Data. The researchers will now process the data collected starting from the
profile up to the results of their pre-test and post-test.
