Church of Nossa Senhora das Salas
Replaces the original church built (XIV) by Dona Betaça, maid of honour of
D. Isabel (married with King Dinis)
Completely rebuilt by Vasco da Gama (XVI century)
(Inside the temple, important image of Nossa Senhora das Salas (XVII
century), a panel of azulejos alluding to the life of Mary and the retable of
Senhor do Vencimento
The celebrations in honour of the Sines fishermen’s patron saint, Our Lady
of Salas, takes place on 14th and 15th August.
