Petřín Hill and Petřín Tower
It is impossible to miss The Petřín Tower (a smaller replica of the Eiffel Tower), perched as it is on top of Petřín
Hill, the large hill that towers above the Mala Strana District (Lesser Town). There are several interesting sights
on Petřín Hill which were constructed for the Prague Industrial Exhibition of 1891. Of most interest to children
is the Mirror Maze, which also features popular distorting mirrors.
The most entertaining way to reach Petřín Hill is to take the funicular, a cable car that climbs the hill (see
information below). It departs from Ujezd at Mala Strana. The funicular makes one stop at the hotel/restaurant
Nebozizek before it reaches the top.
The tower was built in 1891 for the jubilee exhibition on the Prague Exhibition Ground and the design is based
on its famous older sister in Paris. Two hundred and ninety nine steps lead up to the top platform, which are
worth climbing for the tower offers one of the most inspirational views of Prague.

Museum of Miniatures
Here it is possible to see such amazing exponents as: The camel caravan in the eye of a needle; a portrait of A.P.
Cechov painted on a half poppy seed; or the Lord’s Prayer written on a hair. The smallest book in the world,
which is a part of the Guinness Book of Records, can also been seen although only through a microscope.
Another curiosity is a grasshopper playing a violin, as well as minuscule painting of famous painters, painted on a
mammoth bone. It is possible to see everything with the help of a magnifying glass. All the exponents are the
work of Ms. Anatolije Konenka from Siberia (Omsk). She is one of the five people in the world who is able to
do these miniatures.
