BICYCLE WORLD SPONSORS BICYCLE SAFETY CLINICS
LAFAYETTE, La. (Sept. 22, 2015) – Bicycle World will hold two bicycle safety clinics in
Tippecanoe County open to children ages 6 to 12 on April 4 from 10 a.m. to noon.
These free safety clinics will occur simultaneously at Happy Hollow Elementary and Miller
Elementary in Lafayette.
At each location, Bicycle World staff will provide free bicycle safety checks and indicate
whether any equipment needs repair.
Teaching bicycle safety is important. Therefore, staff members will educate children on wearing
helmets correctly, riding in bike lane and using proper hand signals. There will also be an
obstacle course to test their riding proficiency. Children who complete the course will receive a
certificate of accomplishment; they will then be briefed on what they did well and what they
need to improve.
“We believe bicycle safety is crucial for children,” said Darwin Lester, company president.
“With just a little guidance, children can learn habits and rules that could save their lives.”
