THE GATOR GAZETTEGALLAUDET HALL’s SOURCE OF NEWS April 5th
, 2012
Gallaudet Hall Council is on Wednesdays at 10PM in the lobby (basement) next to the RA office.
Speak Out
CCSU gives many opportunities for
students to speak out and get their voice
heard. Of course the more people who get
together, the more likely something can
change. Memorial Hall holds food
committee which gives student the
opportunity to voice their concerns over
matters with the food and service provided
by Sodexo. Food committee meets every
other Wednesday (the last meeting was on
April 4th
) at 2:30 PM. Hall Council gives
students within their dorms an opportunity
to voice a concern as well as an opportunity
to get involved within the dorm. Hall
Council in Gallaudet Hall meets every
Wednesday at 10:00 PM.
CCSU Clubs: Schlock
Just like the show, “Whose Line is it
Anyways” while also featuring new games,
Schlock provides entertainment to the
campus through improv comedy. The
improv club meets in Maloney lobby on
Fridays from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM. The
club is also hosting an event called “Laugh
with Purpose”, which will feature Jake and
Amir from collegehumor.com and Schlock
performers. The event will be held at the
New Britain High School’s Main
Auditorium on April 13th
, 2012 at 7 PM.
Tickets for students bought before the show
cost $5. Tickets are available right now at
CENtix or contact Hannah Hurwitz at
Community Central at 1-203-843-2121.
Eye on the Campus: Open Mic Night
Open Mic Nights are regularly put out at or
outside of semesters by CAN. The Open
Mic Nights give opportunities for people to
showcase their talents to an audience, who
can enjoy the music, interact with the
performers and each other, and eat the free
food offered at the event. Usually the Open
Mic Nights appear once every month. The
next one is on April 12th
and is going to be
a Devil’s Den Thursday event. You need to
apply to be able to perform so that CAN
will know if you need electrical equipment
and so they can get an accurate head count.
If you do not apply then there is a chance
you might not be able to perform.
CCSU Clubs: LASO
LASO (Latin American Student
Organization) is a club on campus that
promotes diversity and promotes the culture
of Latin America. The club also helps
provide leadership opportunities, holds
events to promote the culture of Latin
America and to help educate the public on
certain issues and promotes community
service. The community service LASO does
involves educating youths about going to
college and how the experience benefits
them. LASO holds their meetings at 5:00
PM in the Sprague-Carlton room on every
Tuesday. LASO’s next event, on April 16th
at around 7:00 PM, will be showing a
documentary called “Will the Real Terrorist
Please Stand up”.
