Erin Ortasic has experience in visual merchandising from growing up in a clothing retail environment. She worked at Whole Foods in prepared foods where she gained experience making appealing food displays. She then worked at The Curb Market, where she was responsible for displays, social media, and was promoted to Assistant Store Manager. Currently, Erin is a sales associate at Doc's Wine, Spirits, & More where she is responsible for all displays and merchandising. Some examples of her work included a rosé wine display, gift baskets, signage, and seasonal displays for Father's Day, Fourth of July and more.

3. About Me
I grew up in a clothing retail environment, and began experimenting with
merchandising at a young age. By my teen years, I was solely responsible for our store
windows and mannequins, along with photos for social media.
I worked for Whole Foods for two years in the Prepared Foods Department, where I
gained experience with creating appealing food displays. I aided in opening a locally-
sourced market, where I worked from March 2016 to November 2017 as Social Media
Manager, then Assistant Store Manager. I was responsible for many aspects of the
store, including keeping inventory, setting up the product database, social media posts,
photography, displays, and signage.
I am currently a sales associate at the largest wine and spirits shop in Memphis, where I
have become responsible for all displays, merchandising, and most creative signage.

Summer 2018
Rosé Wine
Display
I was instructed by the
general manager to create
a shoppable rosé wine
display close to the
registers.
There is no merchandising
budget, so using what
materials I had available, I
filled a vase with leftover
corks from wine classes,
crafted paper roses and
vines, and tiered the
bottles to create a more
interesting look.
6. Doc’s
Summer 2018
Rosé Wine
Display
This display has since
featured two different
vineyards that were
previously slow-moving,
and has resulted in the
store selling out weekly
(6+ cases of wine each
time).
7. Doc’s
Gift Baskets
At Doc’s, we keep ready-
made gift baskets on display
to inspire customers buying
gifts.
They are designed to be
bought as-is, or give the
customer a starting point.
Most recently, the baskets
are accompanied by a small
sheet with a price
breakdown, as requested.
Often, the baskets have a
theme, such as locally-made
products, or ingredients for
cocktails like a Manhattan.

Gift Baskets
L to R
1. Basket featuring a bottle
autographed by the
winemaker at one of our
wine classes.
2. Kentucky Derby Old
Fashioned basket, featuring
the event’s official bourbon
sponsor.
3. Locally-sourced basket.
4. Manhattan store entrance
display with pricing.
5. Manhattan featuring Old
Forester.
9. Doc’s
Big Bourbon
Expansion
In celebration of the store
being the first wine and
spirits shop in Memphis to
have a private label
bourbon, the entire
bourbon section was
expanded to carry
everything available in
Tennessee.
I was to arrange all new
bourbons in an appealing
display for social media, and
rather than taking it down
after, I chose to leave it on
the tasting counter, as it
became a very large talking
point to promote the
expansion.
11. Doc’s
Father’s Day
Table
My main instructions were
to include a Johnny Walker
4pc gift set that had been
on the shelves for months
and not sold.
I chose to go with a warm
comfort theme, featuring
products such as local
coffee, bourbon, scotch, gift
bags made from dress shirt
sleeves, local bbq sauce,
and craft caramels.
The gift set sold within the
week, and the display was
replenished many times.
13. Doc’s
Fourth of July
Window
I featured products with the
appropriate color theme, as
well as some with fitting
wording, like Liberty School
wine, American Anthem
vodka, local Riverbank Red
beer, and Charleston Bloody
Mary Mix.
Above, I hung streamers,
bows with tinsel and stars,
and other decorations
found in the stock room.
15. Curb Market
I began at the business
as the Admin Assistant,
but quickly was made
responsible for displays
and social media, and
eventually was
promoted to Assistant
Store Manager.
16. Curb Market
(First Location)
The first location
featured a rustic
aesthetic, with which I
had a lot of fun.
The market was 100%
locally sourced, and sold
everything from fresh
produce to prepared
foods and firewood.
I was responsible for
most visual
merchandising, right
down to helping arrange
produce in the case.

18. Curb Market
Social Media
Due to The Curb being a
grocery whose main
focus was fresh, local
produce, I always made
it a point to have
informative, visually
appealing, fun social
media posts and photos.
Often I would take my
own DSLR camera and
rearrange product to get
that perfect shot.

20. Curb Market
(Second Location)
At the second location, I
received my promotion
to ASM.
The new store was
outfitted with a hot bar,
salad bar, and featured
an expanded inventory
of larger brands that
were responsibly-made.
Every day, in addition to
my ASM duties, I
photographed the bars
and any demos that
were happening, and
posted them to social
media.
22. Whole Foods
Prepared Foods Dept.
During my time at WFM,
I became one of the go-
to Prepared Foods Dept.
employees for creating
hunger-inducing visuals.
I worked in all areas of
the department,
including the chef’s case,
pizza, charcuterie, the
sandwich station, salad
and hot bar and the bbq
shack. I even was able
to prepare and arrange
catering order trays.
25. Haute Mama
Clothing Retail
I grew up in a clothing
retail environment, and
at some point in my
early teens, I took over
the displays.
Merchandising included
the front window,
mannequins, register
counter, and other areas.
26. Haute Mama

1. A wardrobe featuring

products.
2. Two mannequins
featuring a summer dress
and a pajama set with a
matching baby gown.
3. A shoppable rack
arranged so that the end
doubles as a display.
4. Behind, a display wall,
then a rod that I hung
featuring summer scarves
arranged appealingly.
