The FBM KLCI index gained 0.50 points or 0.03% on Wednesday. The Finance Index fell
0.10% to 14154.57 points, the Properties Index dropped 0.34% to 1149.96 points and the
Plantation Index down 0.31% to 7423.67 points. The market traded within a range of 6.86
points between an intra-day high of 1629.11 and a low of 1622.25 during the session.
Actively traded stocks include ARMADA, CAP, KBUNAI, CIMB, MEXTER-WA, VIVOCOM-WB,
AAX-WA, HSI-HW, TIGER and AAX. Trading volume decreased to 1346.21 mil shares worth
RM1660.68 mil as compared to Tuesday’s 2693.00 mil shares worth RM6708.60 mil.
Leading Movers were AXIATA (+11 sen to RM5.33), SIME (+11 sen to RM7.52), ASTRO (+4
sen to RM2.80), SKPETRO (+2 sen to RM1.62) and BAT (+52 sen to RM50.58). Lagging Mov-
ers were GENTING (-13 sen to RM8.23), IHH (-10 sen to RM6.36), PBBANK (-20 sen to
RM18.92), HLFG (-14 sen to RM14.74) and YTL (-1 sen to RM1.62). Market breadth was
negative with 323 gainers as compared to 455 losers.
The KLCI erased its midday losses and closed higher at 1626.50 points despite overnight
mixed performance in Wall Street. However, market breadth was negative as investors
were cautious on absence of fresh positive leads.
