Yarn Stock Assistant Sept 2000 to May 2002
At Herbert Parkinson I was a yarn stock assistant which is part of the John Lewis organisation. I work in
the goods area, using the forklifts to load and unload the wagons. I took samples of the yarn and then make sure
all the yarn went to the right place ready to be picked. I carried out regular stock takes and learnt to use the
computer system. I picked the yarn to take it to any part of the factory that needed it. I also used a pedestrian
electric truck and counterbalance forklift truck to perform my tasks.
Key Achievements:
Developed understanding of the manufacturing industry.
Developed an interest in working history (as this was one of the last weaving mills in Lancashire)
Manage a busy goods in and out area
Work a picking systems
Fork lift truck driving
Processing orders
