As part of the program, Greener Partners teaches students about gardening and cooking to spark their interest in eating vegetables and trying new foods. The document includes a recipe for an apple and cabbage slaw that students in the program enjoy as a healthy snack. 3. Greetings from the CHOP School Nurse Coordinator,
As it is my mission to help you all Stay Well, I want to encourage you to take
some time to rejuvenate your soul with proper rest . Sometimes children stay awake
past bedtime which can lead to a disruption in the sleep-wake cycle. Try to maintain
healthy sleeping habits by aiming for 8-10 hours of sleep every day. If you do stay up
late, sleep in no more than one hour the next morning. Sleep is important for healthy
childhood development; it helps children to learn, think, and grownormally.
I must also remind you all of the approaching cold and flu season. This is a time
for us to review important measures to help prevent the spread of germs, such as
covering our coughs and sneezes. If you or your child has a temperature greater
than 100.4 degrees Fahrenheit, please stay home. One should remain at home until
the temperature returns to normal for at least 24 hours, without the use of fever-
reducing medication. Another important measure is to get your annual flu
vaccine. Speak to your primary care provider about available flu vaccine options.
I hope this time of year brings you all great cheer to spend time with your friends
and families.
Be well,
Aleshia Harrison, RN, MSN, CSN
