This program is a 504-contact-hour, basic certification course that combines classroom lecture with
hands-on learning in clinical and laboratory settings. It can be completed in three semesters
by students attending classes 10-20 hours per week.Training will focus on the skills required of
back-office assistants. Many classes are offered during evening or weekend hours in order to
accommodate working students.
This program meets the education and skills
requirements for the Certified Veterinary Assistant
(CVA) Level I credential from theTexas Veterinary
Medical Association.
