Redmond’s story began in the late 1800’s though
we know that the story of this place started many
1,000’s of years prior. The Historic Core started
developing with the arrival of the Seattle, Lake
Shore and Eastern Railway, bringing settlers,
loggers, miners, fisher folk, and farmers to the
Squak/Sammamish Valley and to the settlement
called Melrose. That spirit of adventure and
pioneering continues today and the Historic Core
Plan hopes to foster a great place for the
community to create tomorrow.
