We are a group of volunteers who rescue about
146 poodles and poodle mixes each year and
help people adopt them. We serve the greater
San Francisco Bay Area, Northern California and
Southern Oregon.
We re-home all varieties of poodles (toy,
miniature, standard and poodle mixes). We
respond to county shelters, humane societies and
individuals via our website and a phone hotline.
Your generosity will be rewarded by knowing
that you made it possible to save a poodle who
might otherwise not have had a second chance.
NorCal Poodle Rescue, Inc. is a tax-exempt
organization under section 501(c)(3) of the
Internal Revenue Code. Our taxpayer ID
number (EIN) is 94-3192264. All donations are
tax deductible.
You must be 18 years old to participate.

Volunteer Opportunities
Help with DOG SOCIALIZATION:
Provide exercise, play, leash manners and other
activities for dogs in the kennels. Dog walks and
playtime are in the nearby park and at the kennel.
Help with TRANSPORTATION:
The poodles need rides to the vets and groomers.
The kennel is in Concord and these services are fairly
close. We also need help getting rescued dogs to the
kennel. You can help by volunteering to drive a dog
a portion of or the whole way to the kennel. Often we
will “pony express” a dog from a location, for example
Chico, down Hwy. 5 with several volunteers driving a
portion of the trip. Dogs come in from as far south as
Fresno and as far north as the Oregon border.
Help with MOBILE ADOPTION:
We have a monthly adoption event at Pet Food Express
in Walnut Creek once a month. We need help getting
the dogs ready (groomed) the day before, and then
transport to PFE as well as assistance with the dogs
once they arrive.
Help with PHOTOGRAPHY
Good pictures of our dogs
are essential for our website.
If you have the knack for
capturing the personality
of a dog and can provide
us with photos that are
of resolution of at least
300dpi, we need you!!
Volunteers go to the
kennel weekly to take
pictures of new arrivals
so that their portraits
can be uploaded to the
website.
Help with FOSTERING:
Become a foster for one of our rescue dogs. Some
animals may only need a home for several days, while
others may need several months of
care. By offering. your time,
energy, and home to a
poodle in need, you can
help to prepare him or
her for adoption into a
permanent home.
Foster candidates
are carefully matched
with foster homes
according to the dog’s
special needs and the foster
parent’s abilities. We request that
people who want to foster either
work from home or can be home
most of the time.
Help with ADOPTIONS:
The adoptions staff introduces our
poodles to their potential adopters.
We usually request that any children
or other pets in the home come along
to make sure that everyone is going
to get along. The potential adopters
have been interviewed by the hotline
team. The adoption staff fills out the
adoption paperwork and provides
the necessary documents (like spay
neuter and vaccination certificates)
to the new owners and answers any
questions the new owners may have.
Very rewarding and fun to see the
poodles go off with their new
families!
Help with HOTLINE:
TheNCPRwebsite/hotlineisthelifebloodofourrescue
organization. This is where we receive phone messages
and emails about poodles that need to be surrendered
or about poodles in various shelters around Northern
California. Members of the hotline team take turns
monitoring the website for these alerts about dogs.
The website is also where people go to look for an
adoptable poodle and fill out an adoption application
form. Every person who submits this form is contacted
by telephone for an interview so that we can help them
select the poodle that best fits their living situation.
This is very rewarding work and can be done from a
home computer. Hotline is an ideal way to have a big
impact on helping rescue poodles without the need
to live close to the kennel !! Training is provided
and you will work with a team.
